Personally, knowing the weaknesses some of my teammates have with the bat, I'd try to pitch on middle and seam away to slips hoping to pick up an edge and have him dismissed. The injury to the victim isn't the important thing, it's the intent of the attacker.
It wouldn't matter terribly had he hit him on the leg or the chest - heck, even the head. Obviously, the more damage the more awful it'd look, but the intent is the same really - and it's deplorable.
I'm astonished, TBH, that it'd be considered not so.
Tell me Sean - what would you think if a team-mate of yours set about you with a bat? Forget the bruise - think about the person inflicting it.

Oh, certainly not, me neither, but at the time there was the potential for it to ruin cricket, and indeed split Earth down the centre.AWTA. I'd not remove Bodyline from history if I had the power.
That Afridi overrates his own ability is hardly a secret; how many times have we seen him making comments along the lines of believing he is a senior player, is in line for the captaincy, etc.? Loads. And he's not. He's a wholly average all-rounder.how so ? can any of guys present any type evidance for all thes aligations..? i mean i can say whatever i want about any cricketer.. and if i can't present it with prove it is nothing but bs..
Think you misunderstood what I meant when I said "setting about with a bat" TBH.
(YES, I KNOW THAT POST WAS IN JEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
i thought we are talking about indecipline actions.. when was the last time u have seen afridi being fine or ban for indeciplinary action by pcb or even icc? That Afridi overrates his own ability is hardly a secret; how many times have we seen him making comments along the lines of believing he is a senior player, is in line for the captaincy, etc.? This in addition to the fact that he's been accused so many times I don't know where to begin of what BhupinderSingh called "disobserving team discipline".
Last world cup . For swinging the bat against a spectator during the ODI series in SA . He was banned from 2 or 3 ODIs( i don't remember) .However there was punishment .when was the last time u have seen afridi being fine or ban for indeciplinary action by pcb or even icc?
PCB have said that he could be back for the 5th ODI against South Africa, depending on his fitness.Haha. So Akhtar will apparently be ready and raring to go versus India. Best of luck to the Indian batsmen.
Fair 13 match ban in my opinion. Hitting team mates is just not on.
The 5th ODI is 13 matches away? Did I miss something here?PCB have said that he could be back for the 5th ODI against South Africa, depending on his fitness.
Shoaib has been with the Pakistani side this week and has had a few nets, bowling to vice captain Butt and a couple of other guys.
Oh, in which case, the punishment isn't harsh enough. The matches missed before and during the disciplinary hearing count to the 13 he has been banned from..
You become senior after playing at least 50 Tests as a regular member of the team ,not by playing 2.5 Tests per year in your 9 year test career.Afridi has been banned loads of times by ICC for his indisciplinary actions, most recent example would be of that 6(?) match been earlier this year when he hit a spectator with his bat & because of that he couldn't even play first 2 World Cup matches. He's been several times involved in fight with Younis Khan and some other players. But the worst indisciplinary action that I remember is when he danced on the pitch to make it more supportive for bowlers in 2nd Test against England, back in 2005.i thought we are talking about indecipline actions.. when was the last time u have seen afridi being fine or ban for indeciplinary action by pcb or even icc?
he has claimed he is the most senior player on that team.. he is right he is right now since inzi is gone now.. his debute was in 1996.. so he is the most senior player out there.. it doesn't mater what his comments were as long as he back it up with good perfomance.. and i think since his return he has done a good job to secure his place in the side...
i am sorry richard u have failed to prove ur point and ur aligation against afridi..
he is senior because.. he has been playing under different captain.. almost played in all the countries..and he has been with the team since his debute most of the time.. that makes him a senior player..i know he hasn't played 50 test but over 200 handred odis.. comparing to most of his teamates.. it is alot to be considered expriance.. and seniorYou become senior after playing at least 50 Tests as a regular member of the team ,not by playing 2.5 Tests per year in your 9 year test career.Afridi has been banned loads of times by ICC for his indisciplinary actions, most recent example would be of that 6(?) match been earlier this year when he hit a spectator with his bat & because of that he couldn't even play first 2 World Cup matches. He's been several times involved in fight with Younis Khan and some other players. But the worst indisciplinary action that I remember is when he danced on the pitch to make it more supportive for bowlers in 2nd Test against England, back in 2005.
Afridi has been thinking he's a senior player for years though, before he got half of this in some cases. Anyway, you can play as many games as you want, if you're in and out of the team you can never really be a senior player in my book.he is senior because.. he has been playing under different captain.. almost played in all the countries..and he has been with the team since his debute most of the time.. that makes him a senior player..i know he hasn't played 50 test but over 200 handred odis.. comparing to most of his teamates.. it is alot to be considered expriance.. and senior
Are there any other players Younis has had troubles with?he hit a spectator?? i don't recall that.. he just show him his bat.. and as far as i know it was the spectator's fault.. why he has to say somthing against someone's country?..i think the spectator got a way easily with it while afridi was punished harshly.. if it was me and someone would say something bad about my country i would have hit him with that bat..
in the past wasim akram and waqar younis had their problems.. imran khan with sarfaraz nawaz .. they had problems and they still have problems... these type of problems exist in every team.. but blaming one person without knowing the truth based on thier charactor is unfair..in case of younis vs afridi or afridi vs others.. blaming afridi for all of that without knowing who started it first is just unfair.. they all have thier differences and it is never fair to blame one without any prove..
