A question to those who still use CM01/02, why exactly do you still use the older game? What makes it so much better than the current FM07? I'm not questioning anyones judgement, rather, with FM08 being announced, i'm torn between buying that, or finding a copy of CM, because of all the praise it gets on here. Also, i'm assuming the game specs would be lower, so it would most likely work better on my computer. So yes, why do you guys find CM so much better than FM? And i take it theres database updates and etc?
Main advantage to someone like me who is not posessed with huge amounts of pateince is that it runs quicker on new computers due to lower game specs, as you mentioned.

Also I feel the developers have lost sight somewhat of what made the CM series so great - its simplicity. Not denying that it's still a great game, and I'll definitely be getting 08, just a bit overcomplicated with the scouts and the like these days - just a personal preference.

That said I thought FM2007 was a massive improvement over 06 (and 05) which I thought were very average (again improvement, for me, was mostly in the game-speed area), hopefully we will see a similar improvement with 08.

yeah agree with what halsey has said here...

FM07 was a big step up from the previous 05 and 06 versions, it was much more polished and various areas were touched up and the whole thing ran really well and is a great game...

that said....there is something about CM01/02 which just made it great....something that cant really be put into words....despite all the recent FM titles having all the same features plus all the newer ones....they just didnt feel quite as right as 01/02.....but its impossible to say why...

that said i'll definitely be getting FM2008, hopefully my pc wont struggle with the required spec as i've just bought a whole load of new memory in order to run my editing software....and the new version is meant to have reduced loading/saving times...

I imagine if you try to run the game on a machine which has a processor of 2Ghz or higher, and with 1g Ram or more it should run pretty well..

Yep, october 19th is correct. And cheers for the replies, I'll probably end up getting 08, but i'll wait for the patches...And yeah, i only started playing with 06, and even then 07 seemed miles better, so hopefully they continue that trend.

all the screen shots suggest that the developers have continued to sharpen up and polish the interface, and if what they say about the engine being tuned up and loading times slashed, and the new features working as well as they say they do then it should be a pretty decent game, i'll probs get on day of release all being well.

let us know how you go mate!
Got 1.8m to spend, have brought a knew goal keeper and have brought Bolo Zenden on loan for the season, I'm aiming to strengthen my centre back and left back positions, another holding/central midfielder wouldn't go amiss.

Played my first game against Southampton and won 3-1.

Beat Villarreal 4-0.

Sold Nigel Reo-Coker to Liverpool but I brought Brazilian prodigy Lucas (who in real life plays for Liverpool) instead. Reo-Coker was in his last year of his contract and he was looking to see his options before re-signing, so I made up his mind and sold him.

I have Wycombe as my feeder club.
