I'm not looking for anything, I'm taking issue with someone putting accross that their opinion that IVAR is the best they've seen as fact that he's the best in that time.

Sachin Tendulkar is clearly better. So, after he played nearly 50 Tests, was Stephen Waugh.
Is the question about run scorers or batsmen?

Run-scoring is virtually all that matters to the art of batting.

no, its not, as Ive said before you clearly lack an understanding for the finer parts of cricket, and anyone who possesses these can tell Richards was the best after Bradman.
You don't even need to bother with it, really.

That is actually a matter of opinion in fact as well. Different people have different values

Hey Rich, we all make mistakes. Can't remember saying that to be honest, and I am sorry for saying it, if that is what the context was especially(that is an apology about the second half of that sentence)..... you do lack an understanding of the finer points of the game, that much is clear, and gets more clear by the day

It's not, though, really. Batting is about scoring runs. There's really nothing more to it. Everything in batting is geared towards scoring runs.

I think you lack an understanding of the fact that there's a lot less romanticism than clinical efficiency in cricket, actually (that's something of a dumbed-down description, incidentally - I CBA thinking of a better way to put it).

I highly doubt you ever said that 2nd part of the line I invented BTW. Was just something I could imagine you saying.

Richard & Goughy,I know that there is clear-cut answer to this question but everyone has his/her 2nd best & just to know & discuss that,I've started this thread.
They obviously dont as I certainly dont.

There isnt anyone I could label the 2nd best ever.

You should read his posts more carefully, You actually never said that, Richard made it up.

His Quote states :- "Soon to be Posted by Swervy"

I said Hobbs - for his mastery of all conditions, his adaptability to new phenomenon like "swerve", his longevity, combined with an average better than any of today's batsmen bar Ponting.

Hammond after him.

Richards/Sobers in a tie after that. ;)
