Haha, John Cena > The Rock in the ring?

You've got to be kidding me. Atleast Dwayne knew how to work the crowd.

However, the problem with Cena isn't his in-ring capabilities. He's a serviceable wrestler, but it's his character and booking that has really antagonized smarks everywhere. Being Homey the clown isn't making him any more popular with the fans, and his superman act has made his matches and title reign so predictable.

Yeah gotta disagree with that call, Cena doesn't come close to touching The Rock in or out of the ring. Though I'll agree that he's not as bad as most people make him out to be. It's like TBY said, the constant packaging of him as the all american invincible man is just so crap and has been going on for so long that most everyone is fed up with it. (but they'll keep pushing it because it means more money for them because people will tune in to see if he loses this time at the PPV's)

Also, IMHO the Undertaker is actually one of the best big men i've ever seen wrestle. Both him and Kane are fantastic for their size, although Undertaker obviously lacks the ability to fly around all over the place like he did back in the day,

On an intersting side note, it looks like Jericho has indeed re-signed with WWE and will be back at No Mercy. *celebrate*

I'm talking about just technical stuff here, the Rock was one of the great personality's but his wrestling style was more about slams and tackles than Cena's. I prefer Cena's personality over the likes of Batista's or most of the crap out there at the moment.

Rock > Cena but Cena's got proper wrestling skills, though neither of those two could hold a candle to Benoit, Gurrero, Angle or Jehrico.

My favourite wrestling personality out there at the moment would probably be Randy Orton's, at least it's consistent. Gotta love a bad guy, Triple H as a good guy? Gotta be kidding.

Undertaker has lost all his in ring lustre, he just fights these days. The writers and commentators don't seem to acknowledge that he's well past his best. Hell I'd even rather watch Ric Flair, chest slapping aside he can pull down some impressive counters and holds.

Undertaker is too old and so is Kane. Ric Flair should piss off. Half the roster should be fired. The creative writers should be shot and Vince should be handcuffed backstage so he can't come onto TV

I love Vince to be honest. Imagine how much money that man has and he still does all that crap.

Wrestling IMO is the same as the Roman spectacles of the past, we need comedy and we need entertainment. Currently there's no one really to root for which is the main fault of wrestling today, and the entertainment is becoming secondary to the comedy.

Need a 4 tag team ladder match TBH.

where i am please by this.....

i expect what is likely to happen is that once the buzz of him returning has worn off he will be back to jobbing mid card matches again to the likes of umaga......

i hope that i'm wrong, i really do, but if he ever holds a world title again (not counting the joke ECW title) i would be very very surprised.

concur with that completely.

Wasn't talking about how electrifying they were in the ring or anything to do with how enjoyable it was to watch that particular wrestler. But pure wrestling (Kurt Angle if you will) style, and Cena is probably the better, the Rock is a football player with a huge personality. He punches he slams and throws in a hold every 4 matches, they are fantastic matches but on pure wrestling alone Cena is probably better.

In an actual fight, the Rock, who's more enjoyable to watch the Rock.

I miss the Rock. Hollywood ****.

hmmm....debateable, if he is better then its only by a very slim margin, i'm not at all convinced of that tbh.

He's not hands down better, but IMO Cena is underrated for his actual skill. Not a huge fan of his but he does cop a lot of flak.

yeah agreed, hes not as bad as so many have suggested, but he does have some areas where he comes up short, that said....there arent exactly many people who i would describe as being brilliantly equipped to take over from him as champion.

I don't really mind. Even him just doing the highlight reel every week you know you're going to be getting 10 minutes of quality. The man oozes charisma, much like The Rock. Being wasted in a feud with someone like Batista would be dire anyway

1) People's Elbow v Five Knuckle Shuffle

Both stupid moves, but one actually involved the crowd and had tons of hilarious spin-offs. The other has a shoe pump, wiggle dance and a fist drop. Why run for a fist-drop?

The Rock 1 - 0 John Cena

2) Sharpshooter v STFU

Both of them butchered excellent submission holds and made them look pathetic. However, one wasn't renamed and used as a finisher when it looked ridiculous. Makes the other wrestler look like a ***** for tapping out to that weak hold.

The Rock 1 - (-1) John Cena <- I can't possibly give Dwayne the point here. I loved the earlier Sharpshooters. Rock's just made laugh.

3) The Rockbottom v The FU

One is a legitimate looking impact move. The other's a fireman carry.

The Rock 2 - (-1) John Cena

Also, I don't get why the move is still called the FU. It was funny when he came up with the name to counter Lesnar's F-5, but the feud's over, and Brock's long gone, so what's the point?

Either way, I do realize I've just compared three moves, and that does not a wrestler make, but these are the respective high spots in their matches. Even great technical wrestlers use rest-holds (Though too many of them can make people hate you. See Randy Orton), and faces most often just get beat down until end game time.

However, they do their high spots brilliantly, and that's what gets them their praise. And by comparing these two wrestlers' high spots, I've come to the conclusion that The Rock wins.

Wait, I'd already said that, hadn't I?

lol i always thought the rocks sharpshooter was ok, never really occured to me before tbh, the STFU isnt a patch on the regal stretch mind..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKSszXmW-6s just found this on youtube, although not the greatest promo, the bit where kane and the undertaker come out still makes the hair stand up on my neck, just isnt the same when they try and make thse sort of moments now....
Haha, Triple H fighting for the Intercontinental title. That sorta upper-card made the shows worth watching, imo. End the brand split already.

Also, lol @ the vintage Smackdown intro. Makes me remember the times I spent playing Smackdown 2.

Cena only has like 3 moves anyway. Let's see.

1) FU
0) STFU
1) 5 Knuckle Shuffle
2) The side slam thing, the sets up the 5KS
3) A leg hook suplex
3) The move where he jumps over a guy and plants his head into the mat
4) Leg drop on to a guy's neck that plants his face on to the mat (his best move)
5) Flying shoulder block thing
6) Selling opponents move like an 8 year old

So there we have it. Cena has 6 moves.
