Real chance for Michael Clarke to display some maturity, and also for Brad Haddin to take charge and prove his doubters wrong.
What doubters? Don't think many would dispute that he's been one of the better OD batsmen in the Aussie domestic scene for a while, and he went pretty well in his most recent international games (averaged 38.14 in his 8 matches in 06/07). He'll probably get out next over now, but he is a pretty good batsman.

Interesting choice to play Haddin as a specialist batsmen over Voges. I agree with it as I think Haddin is better batsmen. But still interesting choice.

Nimbus' NEO is the new Doordarshan. Notice some ads (particularly for Intel) coming in the middle of an over, while a commentator is talking?

There are plenty out their that don't rate him at International level as batsmen. He did well last year but his average is still 25 and his List A average is 31. Was a bit surprised it was so low after watching him win so many matches for NSW over the year. But his still got a lot to prove at International Level.

This is a little strange. Dhoni is standing up to the stumps, and yet Irfan is bowling over 135km/h. And then there's Yuvraj Singh- wonder whose overs he'll cut out...mostly RP Singh.

I think having Haddin in is OK - if Voges was in it should have been at the expense of Hopes. Prove me wrong James.

Probably.

I think Dhoni was standing up to Irfan because Irfan does not get too much bounce or pace off the pitch and his accuracy is good. I remember my school's wicket keeper saying he can stand up to anyone pace wise but the accuracy and bounce are deciding factors.

Yuvraj is a good move but he always seems to bowl just one over too many, it is a fine balance to strike. I think RP should bowl at the death based on his success in twenty20.

There has been some doubts expressed lately about his inclusion in the side. I'm a fan, I think he deserves his chances and I hope he does get a big score.

That's the thing with these part-timers though, they might bowl 3 overs for 12 and the captain is tempted to keep him on, thinking he'll be able to keep it up. Usually their next over goes for double figures.

Australia making a good recovery, Clarke on 58* and Haddin approaching his half century. I'd really like to see one of these batsman ton up.

Did I say earlier that Haddin's presence in the team had me worried? I meant Hopes...

These two have done a very good job of getting the innings back on track.

Pathan has been pretty effective, would be good to see him pick up a wicket or two. Hopefully he doesn't ruin his figures as Clarke and Haddin look to accelerate.

Regardless of whether we win or not, it's great these two getting time in the middle, just a pity Hussey couldn't be there as well. Would love to see Clarke go on and get a ton here.

Jeez I love watching Clarke bat - poetry in motion.

Have to say, without wanting to start another round of T20 vs ODI debate, this innings so far has had everything that makes me think ODIs are far superior to T20 - momentum shifts, players having to adjust their plan and batting style, consolidation then acceleration.

Australia to score 284/8. You heard it here first.

Nah ... 292-7 I reckon.

Do they have to bowl 50 overs, no matter how long it takes? It's taken them just over three hours to bowl 40. If this match had been played 30 years ago the innings would be finished by now.
