Lillee is the best fast bowler ever.

Seriously get rid of your god dam stats and GO AND WATCH VIDEOS OF HIM BOWLING!

He was very quick, he bowled leg cutters, off cutters, he was fierce, he had the perfect attitude.

Lillee is the best of all time

Glenn McGrath. Malcolm Marshall. Richard Hadlee.

It's only "ridiculous" if you've zero respect for the observations of those who actually saw him.
Indeed I do. I don't believe just by seeing someone you can measure accurately how much he spins the ball.

If someone claimed they could, I'd find it ridiculous, really.

There's no good reason whatsoever to do one and not the other. It'd be wholly stupid, in fact, to purely watch (especially as this would almost certainly be a highlights package which showed the good things he did only) and not actually look at achievements.

Several others bowled such things too - they may have lacked in the attitude area, but they actually performed better.

Lillee had the most wickets for a pace bowler until mcgrath took over.

And no...Hadlee was good but hes not top tier.

Achievements? Ok how about highest wicket taker for a fast bowler in test history until mcgrath took the mantle. How about 50% of the most feared opening bowling attack in history?

I have asked many people on Lillee who watched him, they went to the the matches, they saw him bowl all the time, and everyone always says he was the greatest fast bowler of all time.

Whenever someone chooses an all time XI who's the first fast bowler they pick? Lillee.

Heres a closing statement to confirm my argument.

RICHARD HADLEE had 4 words he used to say when he was bowling.

rhythum, off stump, desire and LILLEE

No,Malcom Marshall is the first bowler most people pick while making their all time XIs.
Oh right...so when did you survey the the cricket loving public then?

This is something that gets me...why is it that some people try to validate their own opinion by making up some 'fact' like this..

A lot of people would choose Marshall, and a lot of people would choose Lillee, whilst a lot of others would choose Hadlee and so on

When most people and ex players talk about the best of the last 20-30 years it is usually Lillee, Ambrose, Hadlee, Marshall etc that are thrown up. Cant go wrong with any of them.

Richard Hadlee was twice the bowler Dennis Lillee was.
I'd not go that far, but I do feel he achieved more in his career. Not to say Lillee could not have done given more opportunity, but the fact is that Hadlee did all Lillee did and more.

None of which matter. Someone who took 200 wickets less could perfectly possibly be better than him. Nor does the fact that he formed part of (for all of 2 years) one of the most feared two-prongs ever matter.

What matters is consistency of success in a range of different circumstances. There are several bowlers who trump Lillee in this respect.

No, not everyone. More people than not, but many of these people's arguments are easily explained by various reasons for it to be conceivable that they're judging on the wrong matter.

I'm a big DKL fan myself, but Hadlee, Kapil Dev, Marshall, Imran, Botham, Walsh, Ambrose and Akram off the top of my head had all overtaken Lillee's Test wicket tally before McGrath did.
