Joe Cole was lucky he some of the ball for his first foul there, that was a likely straight red if the Russian is a bit quicker. Then just to be dull he goes gives the Russian a yard headstart from the free kick and this time goes through the back of him.

I'm watching the jocko match, tbh.

Probably the best performance by a British team for decades:@

Was a great performance from the Scots but that French team is way, way overrated. Thuram, Vieira, Makelele and Trezeguet are way past their best and Diarra, Abidal and Escude makes the French back 4 look suspect.

yea the bloke has been brillaint this half no doubt. But that don't mean he should be starting for England well all are fit, but his place in the squad as a key player now is secured.
I'd have him starting in the middle with Gerrard myself. Gerrard was pretty average tonight though, so imagine Lampard would soon overtake him if he kept that up.
Keep Heskey in instead of Rooney as well. Beckham needs SWP to get an injury to push him out based on these matches.

Yeah, I see no reason why Barry shouldn't play ahead of either Gerrard or Lumpard, I'd get rid of Fat Frank meself. Hargreaves shouldn't even be in their thoughts ATM.

Lampard played better without Gerrard, Stevie seemed fairly clear his preference was for Barry. Repeat: Gerard and Lampard don't play well together.

The men in possession should keep their places if you ask me, after all, for once we put in two mildly decent performances in consecutively. Still not sure about SWP, but the other three in midfield have kept the ball decently, and that's what international football should be about.

For me England's main mid-fielder should be Hargreaves, we will need that kind of mid-field shield againts the stronger European nations next year.

Gerrard/Lampard well who ever is in better form should start. Barry really was a revelation especially tonight no doubt he did what Carrick should be doing. But i guess it gives McClaren a good heache when everyone is fit.

Becks to still start for me at least until the end of Euro 2008 (where afterwards he can retire from internationa football), SWP was very good in these two games but he still needs to work on his crossing along with every other right-winger in England. Becks may not have his pace but his other qualities which we all know of are still very important attacking options for England, plus with Richards at Full back England still would have a attacking threat down the right to go with the pace Cole's partnership on the left. SWP would be the perfect sub though but needs to keep it up though, the likes of Lennon, Pennant, Bentley will be hot on his tail this season.

Can't disagree with the idea of keeping Heskey having his presence their even if he doesn' score (although he should) would unsettle any defense in Europe, it would bring out the best in Owen no doubt as we have seen in these two games. But Hesky has to keep it up too, hopefully this talk that he has matured is showed for the remainder of the season for Wigan. But a firing Rooney/Owen partnership would still be the best, remember Euro 2004 they were brilliant together.

Yeah...that's what people were saying (me included) at the start of the World Cup, then they got to the final.

Good performance. Although, Hiddink's side was very defeatist and how Kerzhakov didn't start is scandalous from a Russian perspective but 3-0 is an excellent result all the same.

Great result for England; the injuries we've had have seemingly helped shape us a team, finally. Credit to McClaren for his calls on Heskey & Barry tho. Both were brave decisions and both absolutely correct.

WRT Barry, it was interesting that Gerrard generally played the deeper of the two, as he usually does with Fat Frank, but with far greater effect. For whatever reason the alchemy just isn't there with Lampard & Stevie G. Hope McClaren makes another brave call and picks one for the next game (doesn't even matter which overly), but not both.

& what about those sweaties, eh? Haven't seen the game, but what a result. Awesome stuff. Hope they can finish the job off now.
