Poor umpire Harley, fancy that happening in your first ODI match. Hope he's learnt from that.

Mind you, he'd look like an even bigger fool if he ignored the big screen and stayed with his decision.

Whats wrong with England they are playing every delivery Chawla has bowled looking for turn but all he is bowling is top-spinners, only ball that he gets some turn of is the wrong'un.
I can picture the English dressing room before the next game.

"Lets play him like a medium pacer"

Deja vu

I am suprised KP hasn't slog swept any of the Indian spinners, it is one shot that he has used very successfully against spin bowlers and even against the likes of Warne and Murali.

England need as many runs as they can get because there bowling attack today hardly looks penetrative.

50 comes up for KP and thats his highest score this summer in odi cricket.
EDIT: KP is gone now, gets himself run out in stupid fashion.

KP really needed to make sure he got 100 today :@

Also why oh why was Wright put so low down the order. Lets hope he plays spin well!

He really is thick as pig**** at times. Oh well, India to coast home now, you would think.

After looking at Wrights profile on cric-info, i'm struggling to figure why he was selected. Can anyone shed some light for me...?

I think it's purely based on this season's limited overs performances - cricket archive may be more helpful. Plus playing for Sussex isn't exactly a disadvantage nowadays.

Clapo, mate Wright has been in good form this season and he is also a very aggressive batsman and England seriously need some aggressive batsmen in their side so thats why he has been selected.

Check his T20 stats this year.

http://stats.cricinfo.com/countycri...areer.html?class=6;host=1;id=2007;type=season

Averaging over 43 with a strike rate of 177.

Not too shabby :P

He also averages 33 at a strike rate of 130 in the One day games this year.

On a side note Mustard averages over 50 with a strike rate of over 100 this year in the one day game. Which is why a lot of people want him in the team over Prior.

Although this was opening or coming in 3rd for his county when the fielding restrictions are on and against pace bowling.

Can hit the pill out of the ground.

They should have opened him though.
Not necessarily, if he keeps this sort of thing up.
That being said, our top order is a worry. Cook seems to havfe completely lost whatever form he had, and Prior's not at all convincing, even if he was unlucky today.

Definitely reward for a very good one-day season. He also adds some much needed lusty hitting towards the end of the innings. I know he has batted higher for Sussex this year, but at this stage I am quite happy to see him coming in where he has.

Would have been better if he was doing this in the power plays with 0 wickets down, rather than 5 though.

I get your point however. He is playing well.

Cheers fellas :)

It seems he knew i asked the question in over 33 and was backing up what you all had said about his power hitting :p
