Damned rain - Colly & Jimmy would have had no problem knocking off the runs.

Despite conceding over 300, I thought the batting was more culpable than the bowling today. Faced with a relatively inexperienced attack & a benign pitch, India's top 6 are always going to cash in from time to time, especially when two of them are given lives by our waste of space behind the stumps or by the umpire missing a sitter. But the batting's becoming a real worry. Bell & Cook's form has declined as the series has progressed, Prior has still done nothing to justify his place at the top of the order, despite regularly being given a life or two, KP is hopelessly out of touch & Shah just looks poor. If one of them had been able to match Collingwood, we could have put some real pressure on India, but the captain's something of a one-man show at present.

59 runs... 2 wickets. Thought it was quite an obvious decision tbh.
Thought the same. Felt sorry for Colly falling short of his century, he certainly deserved it with the fight he showed and the nice clean hits for six were good to watch too.

Anyway, two more must-win games to go for India, come on India!

I personally am glad about Englands renewied bottle in the ODI arena, over the past 12months (since the series win in Australia) except the WC they have shown that they can play the ODI game and challenge the best teams in the world.

Happy with india's performance today TBH...everything went right for us from the toss onwards...can see us winning the series if we bat like this and bowl similarly. BUT, the fielding is crap to say the least(except Dhoni of course). Anyways, hope for the best...C'mon India!!!

.....sorry...Chak de India!!!!! :)

India are far from the best ODI team in the world to be fair. And England lost to the WI, who are also far from the best ODI team in the world.

And you can't exclude the WC since its the most important series/tournament in ODI cricket.

Ganguly, what a gun. Time and time again he shows how good he is.

He is simply the best.

Best result possible for the series. Now all we need is another India win to set up a very exciting final.

Missed 'that' Lewis over at the start on replay as I came home late from uni as well :@

Lol @ Altoz. Dravid's batting at the end, particularly that six was awesome btw.
yh...was a really good hit! He seems to have developed that in his game over the last few years and now he is simply awesome IMO!

cant wait till wednesday!!

still think that maybe we can drop Chawla for RP Singh... Don't really see a big future with all the powerplays in playing 3 seamers, esp. since Sourav won't be effective on flat tracks. And RPS didn't do much wrong in the last game he played, tbh. IN fact, he looked the one most likely to get Broad out....

I think we could drop Karthik for RP Singh.

Collingwood almost made us pay for not having a fifth bowler. Ganguly/Yuvraj etc have to be used even with five regular bowlers since one of th five (Agarkar??) could always have an off day.

I've just being surfing on Cricinfo and India do appear to have some really good (potentially good) fringe players; Raina, Kaif*, Sharma, Uthappa, Sehwag*, Patel and others, once again, Indian batting looking strong for years to come, as for the bowling.

Kaif with 110 ODI's and Sehwag with 175 in addition to 50+ test matches are slightly better than "potentially good fringe players" dont you think.

sure, but there is the question of whether our batters can bat with such freedom if only 6 of them are playing and Dhoni is not in the best touch batting wise..... I don't think we can chance our batting anymore... It is better to chance our bowling, because with 3 seamers and if they do well, we can always get something out of Sourav, Yuvraj and Sachin esp. with only one spinner playing... That would mean Sachin would bowl the stuff he can actually be a force with, which is legspin (since Powar is there as the offie) and also Yuvraj could get more of a bowl than normal, which I think is good as I think he is more than handy as a bowler.
