I was wondering how this guy subash chandra from zee is able to pay so much money (knowing that he is rich) and it appears that the ICL is not having any trouble with money at all with an american company willing to sponsor 10 million US dollars to consider the cases of NRI's.

So not only does he have money he has a great potential business interest in cricket. If hehad been allowed to hold on to the bid he had won from BCCI for Indian cricket, it would have meant a completely new and higher phase in his Groups fortunes.
ICL is both his 'revenge' as well as an effort to get by another route whatwas denied to him by the 'official' one.
Well BBC Ceefax were talking about Mark Butcher and two Irish WC players (Boyd Rankin and Niall O'Brien) being linked - although nothing has happened. I wonder if an English guy joined would the ECB try to ban him from CC. I can't imagine Loye Butcher or anyone else giving up a full season of CC for a few weks of 20/20. And if they have approached Irish players why do the words "scraping the barrel" come to mind?

I think, from what I understood from the Surrey director of cricket, is that someone like Butcher is out of contract over the winter, and that if he wants to play that's up to him
I agree about the Irish players though. I have to say I'm still confused about the whole point of this ICL thing. And in that I mean as a spectacle that people would want to watch... It seems to be a weird mix of retired players like Martyn (I don't get how he'll play anything like the top of his game if he's just playing six weeks then having the rest of the year off, which is what he's said), players who want to stick two fingers up to their board and make a stash of money on the side like Hall and Yousuf (not sure how well they will perform with all the background that is going on) and a load of nearly-men from India domestic.

Not really. I wonder how well this will be demonstrated in this WC TBH. It'll be the first time acknowledged ODI and Test stars will be gathered, and I feel that many will flop (and hope they will, of course, thus demonstrating me right to believe what I believe).

So when good Test players like Younis Khan fail at ODI level and useless Test players like Andrew Symonds dominate, it shows that ODI require little skill and dedication as well?

lol, I know.. I was just messing.
I'm not the biggest T20 fan myself, but I am looking forward to the WC because I always enjoy watching what the big guys come up with.
My point was, with the ICL, why would you want to watch that?

It should be noted that there are plans to have an OD and FC Champsionship if the Twenty20 Series is a success.

That can't be what Marto was signed up for though, surely? He said 6 weeks per year in the statement I read.

Pretty sure the International players signed 6 week contracts and the domestic players signed season contracts. I think each team is meant to be limited to 2-3 overseas players each. So once these players finish there contracts either they can re-sign or the can look for different players. Similar to what happens in county cricket with the merry go round that is overseas professionals.

Does domestic cricket pull a decent TV audience in India then? Cause over here I don't think it does, not even the T20... can they make money out of it long-term?
