It may take some time to get figures for matches lost but here is another.

During this period Sehwag and Sachin together played in only 17 games. Here are their figures for all these games

PLAYER....OVERS....RUNS....WKTS....AVG.....ECO RATE.....OVER/MATCH....BEST BOWL
Sachin..........36..........182........4...........45.5........5.05.................3.3..............1-41 in 9
Sehwag........47..........197........4...........49.2........4.19..................4.3.............1-36 in 10

Okay. Here you are. During this one year their respective records in matches lost by India are as under

PLAYER....OVERS....RUNS....WKTS....AVG.....ECO RATE.....OVER/MATCH....BEST BOWL
Sachin..........45..........214........1...........71.3........4.76.................6.4..............1-33 in 9
Sehwag........36..........138........5...........27.6........3.27..................3.2.............1-36 in 10

Whichever way we look at it my friend, Sehwag is/was an under utilised bowler in Indian ODI side.

The problem with playing 4 bowlers now is that both Chawla and Powar can't be dropped. So either we have to risk one of them or Ganguly bowling well before power play ends - from about the 12th over onwards!

with those stats i think we could have played him as a bowler :)

I think Sehwag is as close to being an all rounder as India has ever had except for Pathan brief spell. It is sad that they continued to treat him as a part time bowler. He is rarely hammered. I would say he is a lot like Gayle. Perhaps smarter.

Yea I'd have Mustard in as everyone should know by now. I'd have Graeme Swann in for Panesar, who keeps it tight, is a good fielder, good with the bat and has a lot more OD nous and experience than Panesar. So it would basically be:

Cook
Mustard
Bell
KP
Collingwood
Flintoff
Bopara
Swann
Mascarenhas
Broad
Anderson

Swann does often bat as an opener for his county, so there'd be an option of batting him higher if needs be. If Tremlett shows improvement or whatever it's also not a problem for him to come in for Mascarenhas, still have an okay lower order.
Mostly agree, apart from not being convinced by Mascarenhas yet. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but I just think he'll get milked by good batsmen once the novelty's worn off. Broad is quite capable of batting at 9, so I'd want to see someone who offers rather more than Dimitrimi in the middle overs. Couldn't say who, though.

EDIT
I meant to add that, afaics, this series is the first time England have passed 280 in 3 consecutive odi's. Not a lot of people know that.

We have to go with 4 bowlers......Drop Munaf take uthappa in make him come at 1 down.

Sachin yuvraj and ganguly should be able to bowl 10 overs for 60 runs..i will take it on any given day if they can do that.
I'm guessing they will go with 4 bowlers though whether Uthappa or Gambhir gets to play is debatable. I'm rooting for Uthappa, he's the closest to Sehwag we have now and is a pretty quick mover.

Yes they could go for four bowlers and one prays it works for them.

And Uthappa may get his chance if they do. Gambhir has had his.

I wish they stopped sending Karthik up the order. Yuvraj and Dravid between them should bat three and four. If Uthappa is playing he should be at five then Dhoni or Karthik depending upon situation.

Yes, 4 bowlers will be a problem, esp at the death and if they go in with only two seamers. In that case, they might drop Powar, though one hopes that doesn't happen.
btw, any chance of Dhoni being dropped with Karthik keeping?

Well yea that's the thing, there isn't anyone obvious yet. The best candidate would probably be Jon Lewis but he's that would shuffle things around somewhat. After that there are a few that are on the fringes but need aren't quite there yet like Tremlett and Plunkett.

Not Terrible
Hate day nighters in England tbh, its 12:44am and the match is still not underway, terrible. (Love them here mind you)

Have the sides been picked yet?
Very interested to see the Indian teams structure, England plus Flintoff should be different too.

Rahul wins the toss and bats. India really missing another bit-part seamer in the Collingwood/Bopara mould here. They don't really want to play Munaf or Agarkar, but they have little choice given the spinners struggle in the fielding restrictions and Ganguly isn't too reliable.

Good part for us with Austar/Foxtel is that when they are day/nighters they are almost never delayed:)

*Mumbles somthing rather nasty about delayed cricket matches*
