I was quite surprised and impressed by him myself too.I find it hard to fault RP Singh too much R_D. I thought he was very impressive.
Well, you don't really expect him to say "We can't really win any place away from the subcontinent at a frequency of twice every 20 years."
Well things have changed now my friend, things have changed. Remember the msn convo me, you, pratyush, matteh had before this series, and I was made fun at and not taken seriously when I said India would win. Well all I can say is, we'll talk in a few months.Well, you don't really expect him to say "We can't really win any place away from the subcontinent at a frequency of twice every 20 years."
Nah he didn't put on the avatar yet, he's waiting for Pratyush to give the "okay", since he did the bet against him.btw....has SS put it on yet...if not...wot has he gotta put on?
yh...kl...looking forward to it now!Well said Nishant.

I am not gonna' ruin it for you bro, you're just gonna have to wait and see .
Not really India were beaten comfortably by a team that's fairly rubbish (even worse than England).india have definitely suprised everyone....us gettin knocked out of the WC was a fluke...we have proved ourselves since then and all the critics that doubted india b4 this series have got their answer...not only did india beat england in england....but they did it without a coach!!!!!
Dude you and Pup11 should make a sign at the game saying Hello CricketWeb or something like that, a big one, I am sure you'll come on TV.yh...kl...looking forward to it now!
Well, seeing as our problems came from (a) batting indiscipline and (b) wicketkeeping, I don't see how a change of bowling would have sorted that out at all. Sidebottom, Anderson and Tremlett all bowled better than some of the rubbish Harmison has served up for the last year or so, and Jones isn't going to be properly fit again. We missed Flintoff's balance and Hoggard's Hoggardness, but India were by far the better side and deserved the series.India played well, but i hope in the future when arguments about India's away record strong relevance isn't payed towards this series. Since even though they won it must not be forgotten that with the exception of Panesar, England's main bowling attack was out injured and i'd put my head on block to say if they were fit India would not have won this series.

To look for excuses is to escape the point - India have just thrown off the tags of being unable to generate a decent seam attack, to play swinging balls, to leave the subcontinent, and to battle and grit things out when it's tough. England, on the other hand, are presently showing a distinct lack in the testicular department: when it gets a little bit tough we crack like South Africans.
For me, now, India are #2. And you wouldn't believe just how much that sentence hurt to type.
yh....probably wud come on t.v....thats decided then.....make a huge sign saying 'hello Cricketweb'...wud be plain amazing if it comes on t.v. Come to think of it, should have done that yesturday at the oval as well....although i did get on t.v!Dude you and Pup11 should make a sign at the game saying Hello CricketWeb or something like that, a big one, I am sure you'll come on TV.
Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. Apart from KP (whose brilliance seems increasingly wasted on us) & Vaughan the story of the series was one of thrown away starts. Prior's form with the bat was just shocking tho. 73 runs @ 14.6 (and that boosted by the * in the final innings of the series) is just not cutting the mustard even without factoring in his pooey keeping.Yeah, English bowlers exceeded expectations for mine, it was the 'star' batting line up that let them down at crucial times.
I don't know about that. India won in WI 1-0, lost in SA 2-1, and won in England 1-0. That's three wins outside the subcontinent in one year, and three more than what they managed between 1986-2001. But we really still not consistent enough to warrant jumping above England. England are struggling a bit in the last year after having a great 3-4 years. India did OK in the last 3-4 years, and are having a very good 1 year. I think before rankings change, both sides need to prove themselves one way or another.Well, seeing as our problems came from (a) batting indiscipline and (b) wicketkeeping, I don't see how a change of bowling would have sorted that out at all. I am not sure how ODI comes into it.Scaly Piscine said:India are still an absolute joke when it comes to big OD games like finals etc.
Agreed, but they've now won a series in WI against a bad team. Won a for the first time in history in South Africa, against a decent if not great side and won a series in England in 20 years. ALl that within 13 months means India are on the right track, though far from where they need to be to say clearly that they are #2.Scaly Piscine said:India are still no better than a bunch of other Test sides who can all beat each other. One swallow doesn't make a summer.
Eng still a better test side than IndYeah, we did well here but I would wait till the end of the Aus series before anointing ourselves #2. At the moment, any of Ind, SL, RSA and Eng and may be even Pak can beat any of the others on a given day. Still given the results in the last year or so, 3-4 is probably where we are atm along with SL and SA.
Eng have just enough in the bank to stay #2 but SL for them is going to be crucial.
Yes, top order wickets at an average of over 100 and overall average of 50 certainly doesn't deserve a 5.Cricinfo giving some very generous marks out of 10 to England's players.
Panesar managed a 5 for his all-round direness, equally ridiculous was Prior getting 3.5... how much worse could he have been?
