Whatever it takes!!!
Is it me or is this lad a few jelly beans short of a full pack?
I think he belongs more to movie land than to cricket land....

Seems a rather emotive fellow though. Has to learn to keep himself under check or else he will really go nowhere, inspite of all his talent.

I'm quite amused by the number iof English supoorters bemoaning their lack of luck in this test.

The wicket on the first day may have been conducive to seamers but IMO had England stuck in there they could and should have ground out another 100 runs. They was stiull plenty of juice in the wicket when England came out to bowl but their seamers pitched in shorter than the Indians did ....also I though the Indians showed a lot more application when they batted.

So I don't think England were unlucky in the grand scheme of things....India p[layed better cricket and hopefully they can win or draw at the Oval . Would love to see the reaction from Scaly Piscine and my pro-Engliswh Aussie friend Swervy then
My word you're boring.

Anyway, I think the worst luck we had was that the rain relented. Everybody knows that we deserve for the series to be at 1-1, but I have no complainst about losing the second Test. Even if I wanted to blame it on the toss, that's life tbh.

England were unlucky, but the difference between the two sides was when this test was a gritty one which required fight and bottle, England had a passenger in their midst, Ian Bell this guy will never be good enough internationally and is playing on borrowed time. Might I ask what has this guy achieved in his career except for a few hundreds against a depleted and poor pakistan bowling attack? The answer is nothing bar too many single digit scores. This guy fails time and time again when he is needed. Just take a look at his second innings scores where fight is needed and you'll see.

Couple this with a bad test match for big Kev (he's allowed one, he nearly won the last test for england after all) and the difference between the 2 sides is obvious

Good stuff by Sreesanth imo. He's not as crazy as many of you think. Seems like a nice guy, just can get carried away at times.

Sreesanth, who has an interesting habit of writing letters to God before every game, said that he had hoped to play a crucial role in India's Trent Bridge victory.

"Yes, I did write a letter to God before the fourth day of the Test. I wrote in that, 'Tomorrow I will win the Test match for my country. I will be the one, God please help me.' But it didn't go that way. Well, maybe I didn't write my name in the end and God thought it came from Zaheer bhai," he said.

India (probable) to face Sri Lanka A: 1 Wasim Jaffer, 2 Gautam Gambhir, 3 Rahul Dravid (capt), 4 VVS Laxman, 5 Yuvraj Singh, 6 MS Dhoni (wk), 8 Anil Kumble, 9 Sreesanth 10 Ramesh Powar, 11 Ishant Sharma, 12 Ranadeb Bose.
That is an interesting 12 and would be the wisest team to play, I would be especially interested in how number 11 and 12 do as well as seeing if number 9 has regained his confidence.

I would not be resting either of the openers. They looked good in the second test, but I still think that the more they got used to English conditions, the better they'd be - especially Karthik.

I thought he came off brilliantly in that article. A lot of what he said seemed mature, and genuine about his love and respect for the game. A player with respect but who plays with no fear. I can't knock that. I'll be rooting for him to succeed.

I'm a bit indifferent here.

I have been fairly critical of Atherton, Butcher and few other English players. Considering that I'm from Australia, I don't often get the chance to see many non-Australian games.

But Bell is definetely an interesting character. When seeing him in 05, I was thinking what the hell is this guy doing in this side. I didn't even know about his exorbitant average due to the games against Bangladesh. When he came out to Australia in 06, he looked a better player, but his scores a sort of worrying now for an English fan (as are Prior's; maybe you guy will have to play musical chairs with the keepers again).

I know Rich has disregarded this comment, but I really don't care - Ian Bell is the golden child of English cricket in the same way Michael Clarke is for Australia. A lot is pinned on his shoulders and I doubt he'll be dropped in the near future.

(Whether he should or not, is another question)

Anyone watching this? Bose seems to be doing well, 4/50...

Anyone know how he is bowling? If he keeps this up, maybe he needs to get in a game over Sreesanth. Though I don't know how much swing the Oval will have, and he may not do well without some movement.

Wow, Kumble largely ineffective...Powar and Bose with the damage.
I wouldn't read too much into how many wickets Kumble takes in this one tbh. He was the only Indian who went to practise yesterday along with Dravid apart from those who hadn't played the 2nd test. Kumble has spoken how this will definitely be his last test in England. He must be trying to get a few things right in the practise and now out in the middle more than any thing. I am half expecting a good Kumble performance in the last test, doing a Chandra hopefully - now any thing near that would be amazing, given also that Chandra has always been his hero and he has modelled his bowling after Chandra's.

Bose was very good today - bowled tightly as well as taking wickets.

Rather amusing incident - Dhoni comes into bowl his first ball - a cry comes out from near me in the stands: "Knock his head off".

It was a wide :p

Did you get an idea of Bose's pace? Lively enough to threaten the English batsmen in good conditions?

He was faster than Sharma - I reckon. He was nigglingly accurate, can't remember a very poor delivery he bowled in the 18 overs or so he bowled. Not an explosive bowler though - no real jump to his action.
