this is stupid, that is all i have to say on the matter, the fact that this wasnt looked into BEFORE arsenal made the purchase is just absurd.

Nah, I'm sure Arsenal were confident of convincing the home office. I mean, Anderson got a work permit and he's got like 1 cap for Brazil I believe.

Yes, but we can hardly expect Manchester United to be standard to the same rules as the rest of the world8-)

Anderson’s case differs slightly for Man U argued that his age prevented him from playing full international football and that they were bringing to the UK a kid with an enormous amount of potential, who could only benefit the Premier League.

United have failed with this argument before, they did sign a kid called Rincón (who is now owned by Inter Milan) a couple years back and their argument regarding his age and potential was rejected outright. Anderson’s European clout pretty much secured his permit, Da Silva lacks that hype.

Blackburn have signed Roque Santa Cruz from FC Bayern. Top talent, fantastic in the air, can hold the ball up, decent pace with a strong technique and if he stays fit (the big ask) he maybe are 'good mans' Shefki Kuqi.:) And the best news of all is that Jason Roberts can do one now.

If Hughes can bring in a little bit of dynamism into the midfield, we could have a decent year.

Lol at Deco wanting to go to Chelsea. So who will be the current version of football's biggest bludger Winston Bograde then?

Rossi to Villareal. TBF this is a completely stupid move. Only three fit forwards are there with possibly one leaving. How does this make sense? Rooney, Dong, Smith, Saha, Solskjaer and Rossi are the forwards on the books ATM. Saha and Solskjaer are injured. Dong is not ready yet. Smith and Rossi most likely being sold leaving only Rooney the only forward for the start of the season. What if the Tevez deal doesn't happen? What if Dong turn out to be crap? Who knows how Saha and Solskjaer will hold out for an entire season. This is just absolutely idiotic. A massive gamble this. For all their talent you can't expect Ronaldo,Giggs and Anderson to be your strikers. The logic behind selling both him and Smith with the Tevez deal uncertain is just...........:@ :@

TBH even though it does seem a bit harsh on Rossi to sell him to Villareal this idea is not that bad TBH. After all Ronaldo as being playing as a foward for Portugal since the WC & Qauresma has being flanking right while Giggs usually did play as a foward for Wales. Don't know much about Anderson since he hardly played for Brazil in the Copa America.

Nah comepletely disagree. They should only be there in cases of emergency not expected to play a major portion of the season there.

As sad as I am to see Rossi go, I'm not surprised. With Rooney and Tevez playing in a similar position, it would be very difficult for Rossi to establish himself over the years, certainly this year he wouldn't play often. It's a good move for Rossi more than anyone, as he's simply too good to leave stagnating on the bench with a few league cup ties once in a while.

Everyone I know is sad to see him leave but when you have 3-4 strikers ahead of you then you don't tend to stick around, not when you're young and of the ability Rossi has. It would be rude and arrogant of us to think that just because we're Manchester United that players will be happy in that situation.

Also, Rossi struggled in the Premiership and I don't feel he's bulked up any more in the past season which doesn't bode well for a striker in the top flight of English football.

All the best to him, and I'll be keeping up with his games as best I can!

PS. Anderson and Nani have both been used in the same sentence as 'up front' by United players over the past week.

Either way, we've still only added to our squad of last season in a big way so even if we do sell Heinze and/or Smith I'd say we're, as a whole, a better squad than before.

In between all this Rossi madness, I see Tottenham have managed to capture Boateng. Huge coup for Jol imo, and he's not doing the player justice by including him in the same vein as Lennon and Huddlestone.

Fantastic signing.

So Zola, Owen and Fowler were big? I'm sure there are other small forwards who've done well in England as well. You said 3-4 players ahead of him. Well if you read my post correctly it'd show you why it may only be 1 player ahead of him. Last season I wouldn't have minded him leaving but with the high probability there'll only be one fit decent striker for the first few games of the season, it's not exactly comforting. Also, who knows how long it'll be for Saha and Solskjaer to regain full fitness? Tevez may not arrive till the end of the transfer window also.

Rooney, Tevez, Saha and sometimes Soljskaer would all play ahead of Rossi. Who knows when they'll be back? SAF, I imagine. He said Saha and Soljskaer are due back in two weeks.

I would say that SAF is smart enough to know that we won the title last season with Saha injured for half of it and no Rossi at all, so we should be able to do it with the exact same number of strikers - add Tevez, take away Smith. Is that a backwards step? No, I don't think so. Dong is there too, although I figure that's more Carling Cup cover.

Tevez should arrive before the end of August. I'm rather confident of it - West Ham want to settle out of court and the High Court date is before the end of August as well.

EDIT: How good is Boateng? Haven't heard of him 'til now.

You forget though that while Saha was injured Larsson and Smith wer available along with Rooney and Solskjaer(most of the time). Saha and Solskjaer are injruy prone ATM while Dong is not ready yet for the Premiership IMO. So that leaves Rooney and Tevez. Tevez may not even coem because there looks to be more to this than at the surface. No way would I sell two strikers, one being decent and the other with great potential to try and sign a player who has legal issues hampering his transfer and may not come at all. This is partly based on my dislike for buying Tevez but if it was Rossi alone leaving I'd be supremely upset but with both Rossi and Smith leaving and Tevez uncertain to come my feelings are ineffably angry. There's also no guarantee the Tevez-Rooney partnership will work. If both of them get injured while Saha and Solskjaer are recuperating and Smith and Rossi having been sold by then, with us having to rely on Dong........I'd have to stop following football for a while.

That's what he is. Where have I said he was great? Maybe said good before which is true as well depending on who you talk to. A great striker ? No.
