EDIT: How good is Boateng? Haven't heard of him 'til now.
Germany's young player of the year, if that's any help.

He's a player with enormous talent and very good technique. Possesses an excellent long range shot with solid long passing abilities. All this at 20.

Rumour has it though, that he's a problem player, much in the mould of a certain French player who transferred to a London club at a young age, moved to a huge club for an astronomical fee, got stuck in limbo and is currently a Wanderer.

Let's see if he can take full advantage of his talent.

That's what he is. Where have I said he was great? Maybe said good before which is true as well depending on who you talk to. A great striker ? No.
There was one point where he'd scored 30 goals in his career where he'd actually received more yellow cards than he'd scored goals. Hardly Lineker-esque that.

**** why they sell Rossi, he was just starting to come good. Massive gamble this to sell both Smith and Rossi for Tevez. Especially of Tevez doesn't come off. I was really looking forward to see Rossi getting some game time this season and see what he really had.

Man Utd can have Alvaro Recoba or Julio Cruz (one of the more under-rated strikers IMO) if they want. Inter has 6 strikers and with the signing of David Sauzo I don't think he or Cruz will be getting much game time.

You forget though that while Saha was injured Larsson and Smith wer available along with Rooney and Solskjaer(most of the time). Saha and Solskjaer are injruy prone ATM while Dong is not ready yet for the Premiership IMO. So that leaves Rooney and Tevez. Tevez may not even coem because there looks to be more to this than at the surface. No way would I sell two strikers, one being decent and the other with great potential to try and sign a player who has legal issues hampering his transfer and may not come at all. This is partly based on my dislike for buying Tevez but if it was Rossi alone leaving I'd be supremely upset but with both Rossi and Smith leaving and Tevez uncertain to come my feelings are ineffably angry. There's also no guarantee the Tevez-Rooney partnership will work. If both of them get injured while Saha and Solskjaer are recuperating and Smith and Rossi having been sold by then, with us having to rely on Dong........I'd have to stop following football for a while.
You missed the whole point of what I was getting at.

We won last time with pretty much the same strikers we still have at the moment. Larsson may not be here but he scored 1 goal in 7 games, which I'm sure even Dong will be capable of. Also, Larsson was brought in while Saha was actually fit to play - he got reinjured just before Larsson left, which kind of made the 'rest' we gave Saha kind of silly, given that it was to ensure he'd stay fit for the run in. But Saha could have played 6 of those 7 games, so it wasn't a massive issue at the time.

I don't expect Smith to be sold until everyone is 100% confident that Tevez will be with us. If he's sold, then I might start worrying.

And, finally, it's not all about us. Rossi is too good to play behind 3-4 strikers when they're fit. It's as simple as that. He wants regular first team football and we can't provide that to him. The same is happening with Smith.

What if Tevez and Rooney get injured? Well, we consider ourselves the victim of some seriously bad luck and deal with it. What if Tevez, Rooney, Saha, Ole are all NOT injured? "Sorry, Rossi, you're done for the season"?

Should buy in Dion Dublin or even Chris Greenacre imo.
Matteh looking to beat me in the amount of times Chris Greenacre gets mentioned in this year's thread.

I see this one has already descended into a Man U thread. Ah well, c'est la vie! Where's that lower league thread gone? :D

Quick question for those up with the latest, is Kewell likely to be a starter for Liverpool this season? or do they have better left wing options?

i read a story about kewell today in football weekly and it had a statement saying that liverpool find harry as a key player, and said he will get alot of game time, which harry hopes as he is in his last year of his contract. Benitez has stated that he is a key player this year.

in other news jose stated that liverpool are under pressure to win games early and put pressure on his dream team and utd as we have spent up big in the off season.,.....

does he ever have his head out of his own bum!!!...lol

na i think this season is going to be a belter., and i think west ham could be in for a good season other than the big 4.......

GO THE REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nesta retires from International football.

Huge, huge news. Don't know what to think of it really. Italy's defence looking a little thin?

AWTA. It seems that if you're not actually in the UK then you must support Man Utd....

Well Man Utd will probably play at least 60 games this season. Ole will probably have 20 appearances. It's not fair to ask Tevez, Rooney and Saha to play that many games. Fergie's is brilliant at man management. He has the skills to give Rossi enough games for development while ensuring the top 3 strikers get plenty of games. Also, I'm pretty sure Saha was coming back from injury or something like that when Henrik started playing. That's why he was "rested". To gain enough fitness to be gradually brought back into the team for the run in. I could see the wisdom of selling one of Rossi and Smith but not both when Tevez isn't signed up yet.

He was going downhill anyway. I'm sure there are enough younger defenders to replace him.

Well it's a good job he hasn't sold both of them yet isn't it?
