Well done Vaughan...a captain's innings. He rarely played a bad ball and left a lot of them outside off stump but still has an S/R of close to 60...fantastic stuff.

Kumble to Vaughan: 47 balls, 40 runs.

BTW does this day and yesterday show in a way how good a decision it was by Dravid to field? Saw bowling conditions which were conducive, took a brave decision to field despite a bit of a danger of of the ball getting wet.

Would have been so much worse had India been, say, 150 all out in the first inning batting first.

Haha, yes, definitely. I was very critical of the decision, even after India rolled England on that first morning. But I can safely say I was wrong.

Scores are level.

100 lead at the end of today, then bat all of tommorow's morning session. Give India 250 to chase down in two sessions. A target small enough to tempt them to go for it, but big enought that if India got a partnership going you could still close up shop and force a draw. Of course that all relies on the batsman pilling it on. Vaughan for a double century?
