Martin Petrov has joined Man City for £4.7 million, good player, fairly quick who scores the odd wonder goal but his past injury problems maybe of concern.

Speaking of injuries, looks like Owen Hargreaves may miss the start of the season. No real surprises there for Owen missed over 40% of Bayern Munich's games in his seven year career in Germany and his history with knee trouble is well documented.

Continuing the Man U theme they have agreed a price with Boro over the transfer of Alan Smith. Figure reported is £6 million, which naturally for a player of Smith's undoubted quality is great business on the part of Man U but then again he cost them £7 million three years ago.

No-one knows.
He was nearly sold to Everton in 1993 only for the deal to collapse once some Everton board member questioned the ability and price-tag attached on Dion. Regardless of the broken leg, Ferguson pretty much wanted him out after only a few months with the club.

Hmm if that goes through I'm going to rip right into a few Middlesbrough fans I know, that's absolutely moronic to want to buy that glorified sunday league thug, let alone fork over more than a pint and a packet of dry roasted for him.

Man Utd expected big things from Dion Dublin itbt.

EDIT: Haha ****, he's still playing and at Norwich too. Fairplay to him.
Legend, is Diane. Mate of mine saw him at Hunstanton races a coupla weeks back & the big fella was tucking into a portion of fish n chips. My mate said "Shouldn't you be in pre-season?" & he said that's what he does in the mornings!

Also got, er, close to another mate's elder sister whilst he played for the U's years ago; like an ebony rolling-pin, apparently. :whistling

He broke his leg in 1992 just nine days after he scored on his debut...

Interesting to see how the Heinze, Tevez and Smith transfers work out.
If what I've read is true, then if the Heinze case goes to court, we don't have much of a case. That said, my opinion on Heinze is dropping at a steady pace - firstly, I don't think he's been as good as he was in his first season with us since his injury, and secondly, even considering the Scousers is base treachery.

I can't see the Tevez deal being done before 31st August tbh. However if the courts rule that MSI own him, by my estimations that makes him a free agent so he would be able to sign for us outside of the window.

Tevez signing would further cloud the PL's decision about just fining West Ham. That's how it looks to me if MSI still owns him because West Ham somehow managed to release him from his contract and re-sign him to escape points docking,

Yeah agreed about him considering Liverpool. And AFAIK the "letter" isn't exactly a legally binding dicument and may not usurp his original contract.

Is that legal?

Not by English football rules. Joorabchian, the MSI exec claims that MSI still have rights to him or something of the sort but co-ownership isn't allowed in England. ITSTL and he may just be lying as well.

I really can't see a club who's able to afford the legal advice ManUre can being so daft as to give a player a letter that guarantees him the right to move to who he wishes. I'd be quite surprised if the courts don't find in United's favour.

As for treachery; it's in his blood. An Argentine of German extraction, how much less trustworthy could one man be?! :p
