***Official*** India in England

Kumble has never really looked that flash over here to be honest, but he still must be the man most likely to, judging by the seamers' efforts so far.
Kumble was crap in the first two series in England because he was crap every where abroad usually in the first phase of his career (agreed more so in England). Since that series in Australia in 2003/04, he has been a much improved bowler abroad and is defnitely our main man.

Ganguly finished one more over with two runs given. Zaheer back on. Reasonably good start in the first two deliveries.

EDIT: Laugh out loud stuff on radio: "They are definitely missing Agarkar, he could swing it well"

From another thread: Hang on...guess where RP Singh is standing?

A fast bowler at point? That's something to think about.

I disagree with what Hussain was saying about Dhoni, he has snatched at the ball a couple of times and made it look quite awkward. Admittedly he has handled some of it well, most noticably the balls that have bounced before reaching him, but has definately been sloppy in other aspects.

Seriously, how ****ing stupid are Fox Sports? The telecast has just started here because the English Super League replays are seemingly that much more important - but the smartest move of the day is putting the entire test match on three hours ****ing delay. Why on earth would someone want to watch a delayed telecast of a test match when it would be easier just to go straight into the match live. Absolutely pointless of the ****ers; and then they decide to show the pre-match as well!

Idiots.

Sreesanth should get a long break now. Once recalled with a fresh, new ball, he should bend his back hard and blast the batting side for a few overs.

Oh brother, Dilip Vengsarkar is sitting in the dressing room again. No idea who's going to be sent back, but it's surely going to be catastrophic for the Indian team, if it happens.

Well...for his first time at Lord's dealing with the slope and the swinging ball I'd say that he's kept pretty well.
He hasn't been really poor, but he's had a couple of issues with parrying the ball instead of watching it into his gloves. He was poor in the tour games as well, so maybe if he drops a few and doesn't score any runs then Yuvraj will come in. I hope it doesn't happen, but it is worth thinking about.

You shouldn't forget Ganguly Anil... In English seaming conditions, he can be very useful.
well he is accurate, but his gentle seamers need a fair bit of help from the track to be really effective in terms of taking wickets, and it also depends on how much he is used...because the primary function for ganguly and tendulkar is batting, they might just be used sparingly as bowlers...it also depends on whether we bat or bowl first...the longer they bat, the lesser they might be used to bowl, neither of them are getting any younger, you know....
Anil... Ganguly can be very useful in cloudy English conditions when it suits his kind of bowling and if used intellegently.

Just looked over his stats in England as well:

in England 6 49.5 189 6 3/71 3/54 31.50 3.79 49.8 0 0

Just 50 overs but has got 6 wickets. Not too much to read into them but he could have to play some role in the series as a bowler I would imagine given we are not particularly strong in the pace bowling front and England provides support to the traditional swinger.

Oh dear, oh dear India. Worst possible start to a series.

And Foxtel, seriously, the worst organisation going around by a fair margin.

Lloyd on Strauss smashing Zaheer Khan for a four:

"80 miles an hour, banged in, on this pitch - he is asking for trouble. "

Spot on.
