Saqlain Mushtaq is making his debut for Sussex today - playing against his old Surrey skipper Adam Hollioake. Apparently he's now the holder of a British passport. Does that mean he's England-qualified now? He last played for Pakistan early in 2004 IIRC.
Naved-ul-Hasan, Mushtaq Ahmed and Saqlain Mushtaq then playing for Sussex with Danish Kaneria playing against them for Essex.

Interesting.

I'm just pleased to see them playing to be honest - though I don't know how long it'll last. I'm about 35 miles north-east of Hove and it's absoutely throwing it down outside.

I think I can see a few spots of rain on my TV screen now. :@

Surprise, surprise - Lancashire's match against Leicester (the Sky featured game) has been abandoned - Leics 5 no results from 8 scheduled matches - but almost every other match is going ahead. Surrey v Kent is a crunch game in the southern group and it seems a pity that they couldn't get some cameras down there.

I wonder if Spitfires Fan is there. Kent need 50 off the last seven - not a particularly tall order in T20 terms. If Surrey lose they'll be mad about having to play that five over bash against Sussex.

Wasn't there - not particularly interested in 20:20 which is why I haven't been posting much, but now that Kent are actually showing some aptitude for the game, my interest is slowly increasing!

I'm sure Surrey will be livid about that 5 over game, but there have been plenty of farcical matches throughout this whole competition, it's been a bit of a joke really. Still, hopefully Kent will be able to get through to finals day and reap some financial dividends, which in turn will hopefully help them in the longer form of the game. Good to see some improvement though - the overseas players (including McLaren) seem to have done a good job, and I think that's what they've primarily been hired for.

Looking forward to the Championship resuming though - it'll be interesting to see how the pitch plays at New Road. A points deduction for a dodgy wicket would just be salt in the wound for poor Worcestershire wouldn't it?

Good 20/20 campaign thus far from Morne Morkel. Are Norwegian contributor did 'predicate' great success for Morne but who would have guessed he would be the only man to bowl two maidens this year and have an economy rate comfortably under seven.

So so, nothing special really. Kept it fairly tight without looking too threatening. Why you ask?
Always thought he had potential to be a decent leggie having seen him in England in 2003. Thought he might have developed since then to bowl more than just part time.

 I should stop slating players...

Looks very much as though they'll be no play in the Roses match. :(. Ah well they'll be other days to see Rashid, Smith and Sayers.

Slightly random, but if I lived in Norfolk, what would be the logical first class team for me to support? Essex and Northamptonshire look likely candidates geographically, but does Norfolk have connections with other counties that would make people in the area prone to support any specific team?

I think even the ECB 's pitch inspectors would have sympathy for Worcestershire's plight if it is a dodgy wicket but we might not find out for a while - no play till 3pm at the earliest (no surprise. IMO Worcs should have moved it to Kiddy) and if Kent get little play out of this match maybe you'll feel the same. Meanwhile anyone who saw the state of OT for the 20/20 game that should have been on Friday won't be surprised at the lack of play (Well done Sky. Nothing to watch while most of the country is playing) :@
