miandad, bevan and lara for me...can't imagine a one day all-time xi without miandad or bevan and lara would be any of my all-time teams, test or odis...

No, but I would be quite wary to take someone away from a position where he scored 37 centuries from 269 matches, compared to 4 centuries from 119 matches in the middle order.

It is possible that he could be as successful, but why mess with what works? It's like moving Bradman away from #3. Yea, I'm sure he could be a good opener, but why?
That's different - we know for certain Tendulkar is a good middle-order player and he has played that role very well.

There are others who can do the job at the start of the innings every bit as well, but few who could marshal the middle as well.

Wanted to get KP in there, but you have to kill heroes in an exercise like this. So Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, and to finish the match off, Michael "the finisher" Bevan.
I'd happily have Bevan batting at three in any ODI team of mine.

Days of Grace

International Captain
aye. He might struggle with the new ball, and even with the bouncer rule in place today. No, he is much better at closing or rebuilding an innings and no.6 or no. 7.

Bevan was the best ODI batsman of the modern era, and scored runs coming in anywhere in the order, against any type of bowling. Hence, I'd personally rather like to have him coming-in where he could make the most of everything available to him.

JBH001

International Regular
Miandad
Deano
Bevan

(almost went for Inzy but decided his running would not take with Deano and/or Bevan)

 I would like to see Deano/Bevan and Inzi together at the wicket. Is it possible to lap someone when running between the wickets?

So? That doesn't mean he can't be of more use - especially to a multi-team XI - in the middle.
Stop being a ****ing baby, if you don't like the idea of voting on a poll then don't ****ing look/commet on it, simple as, with no need to start another pointless and pedantic argument in yet another thread.

What way are you suprised PF? Bevan's one of the 3 top ODI batsmen ever but Ponting also deserves his place in the side(they're the two i picked).

Couldn't really think of a third one so i left it blank, was Lara good enough in one dayers? Are Hussey and KP too inexperienced to put into an all-time XI?
