Choose your no.4, 5, and 6. Kind in mind that the no. 6 should be an expert at batting in the last 10 overs of an innings. Or whatever :)

Happy voting!

Please keep in mind that players like Klusener can be voted for in the next poll: for all-rounders, if he misses out here. So, you don't need to compromise your other options just to get him in the side.

Also, if picked, Dhoni will be playing as a batsmen in the team. We have already picked Gilchrist as an opener and, presumably, wicketkeeper.

1. Tendulkar
2. Gilchrist (wk)
3. Richards
4. ?
5. ?
6. ?
7. ?
8. ?
9. ?
10. ?
11. ?

Ponting
Lara
Bevan

all three are match winners.

hopefully we will have two all rounders to follow them and then three specialist bowlers.

Yeah, I wouldn't have him in the top six. I don't think he batted there very often for S Africa.

Went for Bevan, de Silva and Symonds.

With this many options the Dasa route was simply irresistable. :)

As with the Richards case, Jones IMO is part of a different era but would unquestionably be in a 70s\80s team. If I was picking a 90s\00s team, I'd go Bevan (obviously), Aravinda (can't see his name and not vote for him) and I'd pick Tendulkar. Sadly, someone had him opening. 8-)

After all, he only opened in 269 ODI matches....

So? That doesn't mean he can't be of more use - especially to a multi-team XI - in the middle.

Wanted to get KP in there, but you have to kill heroes in an exercise like this. So Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, and to finish the match off, Michael "the finisher" Bevan.

Yep, I'm the same. Although I considered Aravinda and Jones aswell.

I don't think Klusener deserves a top 6 position.

No, but I would be quite wary to take someone away from a position where he scored 37 centuries from 269 matches, compared to 4 centuries from 119 matches in the middle order.

It is possible that he could be as successful, but why mess with what works? It's like moving Bradman away from #3. Yea, I'm sure he could be a good opener, but why?

May I repeat that once again I want this World XI all-time ODI team to be based on positions where batsmen made themselves known in. Tendulkar is best known as an ODI opener. The best there ever has been. End of story, chaps.
