Argh, why does Henin have to go out?? I really admire her, she's like the opposite of Serena-everything-I-hate-about-tennis Williams.. Sucks that she still can't get a Wimbledon title :(

Because, as I've always said, she chokes when it counts.

I guess you hate mental toughness in tennis hey?

Fancy Henin losing to two-hand forehand Bartoli. That was a genuine lol moment. After winning the first set 6-1 she fell to pieces, similar to Mauresmo did.

Venus will crush her tomorrow. The Queen of Grass is back once again.
WTF Roddick!!!
Haha How good was Gasquet! Absolutely brilliant to watch. Easily my favourite player after Safin and Gabashivili. That backhand is a marvel, always been an entertaining player.

Just in case you missed the point Jono...

Serena = plays like a crap bloke, completely inelegant, has a thoroughly loathsome personality, will basically do everything short of outright cheating

That's why I hate her and I'm sure most others are the same, note the difference between that and Henin.

But anyway yea Venus should win easily tomorrow, the sort of women's final that makes you take great interest in the England v WI ODI.

he was quite brilliant in the last 3 sets...but that was too long a match and he looked really tired towards the end, next up is the big man and gasquet doesn't have too long to rest and recuperate...

a) How many of those slams were on clay?
b) How many of those slams, did she beat a Williams sister in?
a) relevance? you said she chokes when it counts...so 4 french opens don't count because they were on clay? she has 2 on hard courts as well in addition to the 2 wimbledon finals, shows that she is a top competitor on the quicker courts as well...

b) i don't know her career record against venus but she is 5-6 against serena and beat her at both roland garros and wimbledon this year....of course according to serena, she lost, henin didn't win...

We've been through this many times, and I thought it was proven earlier this year when Henin was all over Serena in the Miami finals, taking the first set 6-0, and was up a break in the 2nd, and couldn't serve out the match, and ended up losing. Wimbledon was the first time Henin ever beat Serena on a non-clay surface.

And the relevance of winning 4 of the grand slam titles at Roland Garros on clay is obvious when it comes to her mental toughness. She's easily the best clay court women's player in the world. When you're that good, and not challenged as much (as this year showed) you don't have to win as many clutch points. You're the best.

On other surfaces though, she has choked countless times and at 5-1 up in the 3rd set vs. Serena Williams at Wimbledon she even struggled to serve it out, being broken first before eventually winning.

The fact she's supposedly the best women's tennis player in the world, yet can't win Wimbledon says something pretty damn obvious to me. The Williams sisters are better on non-clay surfaces. Its as simple as that.

As I pointed out, she's only ever beaten Serena in a non-clay surface Grand Slam once, and that was this year's Wimbledon. Then she goes and loses to Bartoli, which is a dead set joke. Venus had a far tougher path into the final.

Her career record vs. Venus Williams is 7-1 in Venus' favour by the way. So probably better Henin lost to Bartoli.

I like watching players who don't crumble under pressure. Who win, no matter what the odds are. No matter how much the media says they can't.

The fact is people hate the Williams sisters because they are different. When have two black, non-conventional women dominated what has generally been a white person's sport, and also... SHOCK HORROR... had the audacity to speak their mind and claim they are indeed the best when interviewed? Why should they lie? They are the best, and they admit to being so.

And Henin isn't exactly elegant either, her backhand is nice but I reckon there are some other players I'd like to watch before her. And breaking down mentally when a Grand Slam final is right in front of you is hardly 'elegant' either. :D
