I think I've missed something here - when did NZ become part of the question?No Test Matches played in that era.Fiery they were first class matches only. NZ was not considered good enough

Becasue I have never heard of Gatehouse or Butler playing for Aust. I think Burn would be Kenny Burn who was picked as a WK but had never kept wicket in his life

Actually that is interesting Fiery as both "Austarlian First Class Cricket and The Illustrated history of first class cricket in Australia" show the headlines as "Australian Side to Tour New Zealand"..will follow that one up and let you know.
