Heh a 'spyware detected' box came up on the TMS coverage that you get via BBC interactive.

That's about as interesting as what's happening at the moment really but meh.

Should of picked Jimmy over Monty IMHO, would have these lot out by tea.

They may be poor players of spin, but they're 10 times worse players of swing bowling.

Chanderpaul their only hope again.
Horses for courses bowling selections are dire IMO. You need to get a settled side, and you can't drop Monty after taking 10.

I don't think Monty will ever be dropped from any Test no matter what the wicket looks like - there would be a public outcry. Having said that I wonder if he will be picked for the ODI side?

Shouldn't be, IMO, simply isn't a very good ODI bowler.

For the one dayers I'd like to see an attack consisting of Anderson-Sidebottom-Lewis-Flintoff-Collingwood-Bopara.

Thoughts?.

I'm more worried about Blackwell's "apparent" batting prowess tbh. He has always been a pretty underrated and underused spinner for Somerset imo. No matter how well he bowls he is nowhere near international standard with the bat which was evident in his previous OD matches.

I don't think Monty should play in ODIs but must play in all Tests as Warne did. Panesar simply put is no where near as 'amazing' as Warne but his technique of many revolutions with a perfect seam and good line and length (in short, consistancy with an edge) brings a consistancy and the odd amazing ball which adds up to a lot of wickets (5 five-fors in 16 matches). However, his consistant line and length, inconsistant amount of spin (as with many left arm orthodoxes) and 57mph pace leads him to be easily manipulated for singles (when the field is pushed back) and slogged too in the latter overs. This makes him poor in ODIs and twenty20s and the reason he should not be picked for either.

It's not as though Blackwell is head and shoulders above the likes of Dalrymple or hell even Vaughan.
he is a hell of a lot better than dalrymple with the ball, vaughan though is very underrated. but replying to your post before this worrying about his lack of batting ability, it's unlikely but it wouldn't be an issue if he was replacing monty in the lineup and being used as a bowler. although i doubt this would happen to be honest.

Well... it's not like it's worse than Panesar's or anything. There's a line of thought to suggest Blackwell is the best ODI spinner England has, even if he averages 0 with the bat. And his batting certainly hasn't shown enough to get himself selected in the top 7, but we all know he can slog and get lucky at times in domestic one day cricket, so he'd be handy at #8 or #9.

Really though, if the England selectors insist on playing Vaughan in ODIs, then I wouldn't bother picking a specialist spinner along with him. Decent bowler IMO, and he's going to be in the side then he it mght as well be utilised.
