I know, I know.

But you know what I mean.

(And even if you don't)

You would of thought that a quality player like Cook would of atleast scored something over 150 considering that he's past the 3 figures 5/6 times before - the more I think about it, the more of a oddity it becomes to me - I'm not sure what your take is on it, but I find it, slightly concerning.

I don't find it concerning yet, he's still very young, it has to be remembered.

I also hope he'll get more expansive as time goes by, atm he's playing within his limitations, I think.

Collingwood's natural ability is fairly limited in comparison with Cook, though.

I like Collingwood, because he's a fighter. Cook strikes me as a bloke who could be more aggressive if he could be bothered.
What? You mean you prefer a northerner to a southerner? I mean, like, wow, that's practically unheard of... :p

I just hope people don't get too carried away with Cook. When he faced the best of the best he had a woeful time of it and was simply outclassed. Please just don't be fooled by the fact that he's done it easy against one of the worst bowling attacks in Test history.

Not really, he just uses his brain unlike other batsmen at times. If you made him bat aggressively, he probably wouldn't have been very effective.

He has scored runs against everyone bar Australia.

I mean he is 22 ffs... the guy has a head way above his years and will be in an England shirt for many years.

You have to feel for Windies... get rid of Cook, KP and Vaughan and still there is Bell and Prior to come. Luckily, a declaration should be imminent.

Can sort of see why it was given, but too much guess work involved for mine. When I first saw it I thought it was probably going down leg, but hawkeye reckons height was the issue.

Of course he will, but with this rampant "success" comes rampant expectations.

And as I was saying, he failed against the best. Averaged 20 or something terrible. It's not hard to look great when you're knocking around pitiful Indian and West Indian attacks. The only time he's really been tested he's failed. And let's not forget his immense luck in this series so far. Sure luck is a part of cricket, but it will run out eventually...

I just feel the English media will put far too much pressure on him and it'll be another case of massive wasted talent. I do enjoy Cook's batting but I just hope people realise that it's not all going to be roses, particularly given his record against bowling of a higher standard.

is this being aired in oz? or does coverage start tomorrow? thought i read that somewhere.
Yeah nothing here till tomorrow, listening on BBC website.

sideshowtim, you have a fair bit in common with BLE at times, it must be said. Cook's a gun and if he was playing for Australia, no doubt you'd be singing his praises from here till tomorrow.
