Really? Is any football actually being played? 0 safes from both goal-keepers.

It's a typical friendly IMO, pretty dire.

Hey, I watch lower league stuff every week. Seeing controlled posession football, with quality players, is enjoyable for me.

Much better then watching England humping it forward, in a match we're meant to win.

That'll be Wednesday.

England - didn`t want to win that game of football? I absolutely hate England`s attitude to sport, and that really stunk.

Tbf, was only a friendly, with both eyes on the game in midweek for Estonia. Was a bit annoying to concede an equaliser, but I doubt anyone will lose any sleep over it.

Why the hell is Gerrard getting named man of the match? He was the one that just let the player cross the ball in at his leisure for the equaliser.

Ya-huh, that be the friggen point. The Socceroos are playing a friendly tonight against Uruguay without 6 or 7 of our best players and 50 000 people are rocking up. It`s not just a friendly to us, we want to win every game. English people kill me that way. The players, the fans, the commentators. "Ah well, an equaliser with one minute to go. It happens."

Absolutely pathetic.

Yeah agreed, if your not out to win then why bother? That attitude is the reason why England has done nothing (apart from the RWC in 2003) since a certain WC win in 1966.

Anyway Chelsea have signed Bayern Munich striker Claudio Pizarro on a Bosman and have snapped Oldham's Danny Philliskirk and have given him a 4 year deal, so I can assume he must be alright then. Oldham also don't miss out as they will get players in return on loan (youth players), as well as the compensation Chelsea will have to pay (and if any sell on fees are included).

I'll be interested in TT Boy's thoughts on the transfer of Pizarro.

No, you're missing the point - we do care very passionately about the game on Wednesday. Say whatever you want about our attitude, but I don't think you can criticise it in, when it comes down to it, a meaningless friendly. We don't need to get any injuries or suchlike in this game, hence why JT was subbed off at the smallest possible sign of injury - if we fail to win against Estonia we are as good as out of the European Championships.

These types of games are essentially for experimentation, testing things out when the stakes are not as high as they are in a competitive game.

EDIT: Should probably point out that IMO these games are fairly pointless, and there are too many international friendlies around, but if there is a meaning for them then experimentation is what it is.

Agree with Tom here. Friendlies can do one as far as I'm concerned. Players don't care, fans don't care. Moreover, how is Brazil good preperation for Estonia?!? No disrespect to them, but it's rather akin to studying brain surgery as preparation for cutting your toenails.

Well I'm sorry but as a player if you are not up for a friendly against Brazil at a new stadium then you should think about retiring.

Australian Cricket Team - Use real, meaningful International matches for experimentation... and we win them.

Your arguement is severely flawed. If no-one is trying to win, how accurate can your reading be of how a player is? There`s no point in experimenting when the match is "meaningless". He`ll get to a crucial point in a match you deem "meaningful", and screw up because of lack of experience in that situation.

Point is, the main factor in England not winning crap in the last thirty years is their disgusting attitude towards winning in sport. So when you struggle against Estonia and the rest of them, it won`t take you long to look for excuses. Look at all the opportunities you had to see how good players REALLY are, and the chances you had to gain psychological victories over big-name opposition. It`s a huge problem that nothing is being done about.

Would be if the game actually meaned anything, no doubt. Sorry, but if you take a friendly game against Brazil more seriously than a European Championship game then you're a mug.

Besides, nearly everyone who has been seems to be saying that Wembley isn't all that, and the pitch does seem a bit dodgy.

But the point is that it's only a friendly; half the players on show have just played in an FA Cup final or a Champions League final. An international friendly is a step down after games like that, Brazil or no Brazil.

I agree - as I said, I don't like friendlies. But experimentation is usually the reason given by the organizations for organizing millions of them.

The reason we will probably struggle to beat Estonia is not our attitude in an international friendly, it is because our management is a shade dire.

The Aussie cricket team wins friendlies because they are better than the opposition. England are not better than Brazil. Additionally, Brazil are the most successful football team in histry - didn't seem to be taking the game any more seriously than we did tonight.
