Colts player ratings for FC game against Blue

S.G. Fitzsimmons: Will be disapointed with his contribution in both innings, but he was fantastic in the field keeping everyone motivated. 2/10

J.B. Malthus: Again, would be very frustrated he got a start in both innings on a tricky pitch and didn't capitalise. Kept the innings together well at the start by occuping the crease and keeping the middle order away from the new ball. 4/10

M. Hopgood: Looks a little more comfortable at this level, but needs to convert his starts into bigger scores if he wants to stay in the FC side ones the internationals come back. 3/10

P. Bharat: Another Colts player who would be disapointing that they didn't convert their starts. 2.5/10

S. Jasotharan: Another fantastic innings from the rejuvenated batsman in the first innnings. Didn't continue in the second, but he can't be expected to all the time. Was fantastic with the gloves, yet again. 7/10

W.A. Kerr: Is this a game that will define the rookie batsman, or will it just be a flash in the pan? Only time will tell. Needs to keep consistently scoring runs. Was excellent in this fixture with a match winning innings. 7.5/10

M.W. Wilson: Contributed with both bat and ball, but in particular his second innings with the bat was the standout. Combined with Kerr for a match winning partnership when it all could have gone the other way. 8/10

N.R. Hancock: Fantastic with the ball in the second innings, and allowed the Colts to have a reasonable total to chase. Growing with confidence with every performance. 7/10

T.V. Weber: Wasn't really a pitch to Weber's liking and didn't really play much more of a role than to rest tired bowlers. However, it has been a good season for Weber, we'll see more of this youngster. 1/10

K.S. Wright: The Colts' skipper has been disapointed with his personal returns this season, but even in his worst game, he always chips in somewhere with a wicket or a good catch. Took three vital wickets in the second innings. 3/10

G.M. Thomas: Has been in sensational form in the FC arena, and it is known that Thomas is pushing for a role in the OD side. He was superb yet again in the first innings, a trait he is developing into a fine art form. His six wickets were vital in the Colts not being too far behind after the first innings. 7/10

Player points:

M.W. Wilson 3
W.A. Kerr 2
G.M. Thomas 1 (3)

Ratings for last night's game will have to wait until I get back tomorrow.

In the meantime the side for the next FC game against Red on Monday night has been named. It is an unchanged squad.

Colts player ratings for OD game against Blue (May 5)

S. Jasotharan: Another excellent start from the in-form batsman. Will be disapointed he didn't convert, but went at close to a run a ball and gave the innings some momentum. 5/10

Hopgood: Along with 'Jaso', Hopgood was able to get the Colts off to a flying start. Seems capable of hadling himself at this level with some consistent scores in his early games. 5.5/10

A.S. Das: Will be yet again frustrated he wasn't able to convert his start. Although he looked really good and was going at a run a ball, he lost his wicket at a crucial time when rebuilding was needed. 4/10

B. Bharat: The only Colts batsperson to reach a half century. She held the innings together well and allowed the others around her to be more adventurous. Excellent innings. 7/10

S.G. Fitzsimmons: A quick-fire innings from 'Fitzy'. Didn't waste any balls. His 13 looks a lot better when put aside the 6 balls he faced. If his gamble had of paid off the Colts could have scored 350 plus. 3/10

T.V. Weber: Looked as though he was unsure on what role to play in the OD side. His 2 runs came off 11 balls. Given that it was his first OD game of the season, he looked to be out of rythum. After a few more games he might find the right way to bat. Picked up an important wicket in his 5 over spell. 4/10

M.W. Wilson: The Colts' Doctor had ordered some late order hitting, and that is what Wilson delivered with. Fantastic innings late in the order, his three wickets were also crucial. 8/10

J.P. McNamara
: The MOTM delivered just when it was needed. His two wickets were just as important as his tight bolwing. His 19 runs came in handy also. 8.5/10

N.R. Hancock: Lacked strike power with the ball, but did keep things relatively tidy. His 19 runs off 15 balls was critical in the Colts getting a winning total. 6.5/10

M. Shah: Very expensive, but did pick up a wicket. 2/10

K.S. Wright: Currently struggling for form and doesn't look like he has his rythum of previous seasons. This could be because he has more to do as a captain, or it could be a form slump. Only time will tell. However, he does have the knack of snaring the set batsmen. 2/10

Player Points:

J.P. McNamara 3 (6)
M.W. Wilson 2 (7)
P. Bharat 1 (5)

The Colts OD side has been named to face Black tonight.

Two changes. Malthus in for Das & Bochat to make his OD debut for the Colts in place of Shah.

Good luck to those selected.

Colts player ratings for FC game against Red (May 7)

S. G. Fitzsimmons: Two runs shy of a hundred for the match for Fitzsimmons. His second innings 78 was crucial in making sure the Colts got off to a steady start in their run chase. Would have been disapointed he didn't carry his bat. 6/10

J.B. Malthus: Again he'd be disapointed he got starts in both innings, but didn't carry on. His second innings of 43 laid the platform for the Colts run chase, but really should have made more. 4/10

M. Hopgood: 'Hopy' completed his maiden FC century. His 123 in the first innings came in good time, and ensured that big partnerships were built around his innings. Will be disapointed he didn't get more in the second innings, but should be extremely happy with his first breakthrough innings. 8/10

P. Bharat: Yet again, did the hard work of the innings by getting herself in, but then would get out. Probably needs more runs with the internationals due to return soon from the Chapmions Trophy to hold on to her place in the middle order. 2/10

S. Jasotharan: A handy double of 38 and 50, both at more than a run a ball ensured the Colts had the scoreboard always ticking over. Is easily, in the form of his life. 6.5/10

W.A. Kerr: Showed that his innings in the previous FC match was no fluke. He ensured the selectors would have a tough time dropping him when the internationals return. The Colts must be overjoyed that they've found a rookie batsman able to absorb the pressure of a match winning innings. 7/10

M.W. Wilson: Wilson contributed in both his batting innings with 63 and 40*. He also made important breakthroughs with the ball. In peak form at the right time for the Colts. MOTM. 8.5/10

N.R. Hancock: Provided the Colts with important wickets in the first innings when no other bowler could find their rythum. 5/10

T.V. Weber: Was again overshadowed by the quicker men, but made an important breakthrough in the first innings. 1/10

K.S. Wright: An improved effort from the Colts captain. Contributed with three wickets in each innings and was able to get set batsman out. A common theme in his wickets this season. 5/10

G.M Thomas: Again, was oustanding. Six wickets for the match and four critical ones in the second innings. 6/10

Player Points:

M.W. Wilson 3 (6)
M. Hopgood 2
W.A. Kerr 1(3)

The FC side has been named to face Green.

We usually don't like to make too many changes to a winning side, however with the internationals returning we needed to make room for them.

Malthus is unfortunate to miss out, but Hopgood's century gave him the deciding factor. Malthus' hard work has not gone unnoticed though and is not far from the side. The other unfortunate person to miss out is Bharat. Again, she has also been solid for us this season, but just hasn't converted her starts, much like Malthus.

Good luck to all those selected.

Colts player ratings for OD game against Black (May 8)

S. Jasotharan: Another excellent quick fire innings from Jasotharan, however on this occassion the Colts would have won a lot easier if he had of hung around and built partnerships. 4/10

M. Hopgood: It's a bit early to be labelling 'Hoppy' as inconsistent, but he is a bit hit or miss. He either scores a big one, or gets out early. Still finding his feet at this level. 0/10

S.G. Fitzsimmons: Again, 'Fitzy' didn't wast time hanging around. His 16 runs came from half as many balls, but like 'Jaso' he needed to hang around and contribute to early partnerships. 1.5/10

P. Bharat: Lost her wicket at a crucial time, when partnerships needed to be built. Will be disapointed with her effort. 1/10

JB Malthus: First OD game of the season, and came in during a difficult situation. Didn't last long. 1/10

T.V. Weber: Showed how important he is to the Colts OD middle order. He began the fight back of the Colts innings with Wilson. Will be disapointed he didn't go through and get a not out score. Also bowled well at a crucial time. 7/10

M.W. Wilson: Is becoming accostomed to playing match winning innings. Allowed to lower order players to play aggressively while things were safe at his end. 8/10

N.R. Hancock: A true allround performance from Hancock. His three wickets when the Colts bowled were critical, and his quick fire 42 off 41 put the Cols back in the game with a chance of winning. 9/10

T. Bochat: Started nevoursly. However, recovered amazingly to give the Colts a reasonable target to chase. He also slogged with abandon, to give the Colts a win. 9/10

J.P. McNamara: Wasn't as impressive with the ball as he has been previously, however his 18 runs in reasonable time, was critical in allowing the Colts not to fall behind the run rate in the dying overs. 4/10

K.S. Wright: Didn't have the striking power that he is known for, but did keep the runs down. Again, the Colts skipper showed that although he doesn't have much talent with the bat, he can dig in when required. 1.5/10
