Colts Player ratings for game against Black
S.G. Fitzsimmons: Combined with 'Howler' for an important opening partnership in the first innings. Would be disapointed with a duck in the second innings with not many required, but looks in very good form. 6/10
J.B. Malthus: Although 'Howler' has yet to string some big scores together, he looks a much improved player. Got himslef into a position in both innings to get a big score, but just gettting out at the wrong time. For his sake and the sake of the Colts he must be hoping he's not wasting his good form. 5/10
M. Hopgood: Followed on from his good form in the one dayers with a neat 47 in the first innings, and it was in good time also. Would be disapointed he didn't go on with it in the second innings and guide the Colts home, but a much more impressive effort from the rookie. 4/10
P. Bharat: Yet, another batsperson who made a good start but didn't convert to big figures, however was involved in an important partnership. Looks to be building her form nicely, will be disapointed with the second innings duck. 4/10
S. Jasotharan: Certainly the form batsman of the league. And will be asking questions of the international selectors come the home season, certainly a very good chance of becoming the international one day wicket keeper, and although it will be hard for the selectors to drop Mork, there could be a place found for 'Jaso' as a batsman alone in the test side. However, he will have to keep his form up for the selectors to take notice, and the Colts will be in a fantastic position if he does. 8/10
W.A. Kerr: The rookie has yet to find his feet with the bat at this level in both forms of the game. He'll be disapointed he made it to double figures and didn't really go on with it. It's a long season and plenty of time for the youngster to adjust. 1/10
M.W. Wilson: Not Wilson's best performance of the season, but he did ensure, along with 'Jaso', that the Colts would get home in the second innings. 3/10
N.R. Hancock: Hancock's 31* in the first innings was crucial for the Colts' first innings lead. Didn't have as much impact with the ball has he has in previous matches, but contributed well. 4/10
T.V. Weber: Won the game for the Colts. Weber has probably had better bowling statistics in his career, but probably has never had such an impact on a match. He ensured the Black top order, after a good start, weren't allowed to set the Colts a challenging second innings target. 9/10
K.S. Wright: Having a better team, and concentrating more on winning games than having to bowl to win, the Colts captain doesn't seem the same bowler has he has been in previous seasons. This was certainly is finest performance of the season. Four wickets in the first innings and one in the second. His experienced bowling ensured, batsman who had gotten starts were out in the first innings. He looks like his bowling is improving with every match. 7/10
G.M. Thomas: One has to stain one's brain to remember the last time Thomas had a bad bowling performance. He again contributed with crucial wickets in each innings. Is in spectacular form. 7/10
