Well hearing what Lara said at the presentation in his last game is hardly inspiring stuff re samuels. Samuels, has never had any sort of success at the test match level, and that is largely IMO because of what i perceive to be a poor technique.
Doesn't look poor to me. Not the best but not terrible either.

What are you on about?.Collymore is the Windies best test fast bowler by a mile!!!.
If I put him in it'd have to be ahead of Powell but Powell has bowled better recently so he makes it in ahead of Collymore. I'd want a strike bowler which is Taylor, a spinner in Mohammed, someone to provide variety which is Collins and someone who can pick up wickets first change and can keep it tight which is Powell. Collymore is better than him at that but picked the team on form.

Vaughan and Bell being part of the England middle order need to perform really exceptionally well to stop WI making deep inroads in to ENG middle order very early..
Both are quality test players. I back them fully.

We're talking about test matches here...Collymore's recent form in test cricket has been very good where as Collins hasn't played a test for a while and Powell however well he bowled in the WC has been awful in tests. You just can't leave Collymore out of the Windies test team. It's as simple as that.

What kinda crap is that? Excuse me if I'm a bit angry having just lost to AC Milan. BUt seriously how do they expect to compete with some of those players? I had some faith in the selectors but picking Sammy and Edwards over any of Mohammed, Lawson, Collins and Samuels is stupid. 4-0 trashing.

The West Indian variety.

As you say anything but a 4-0 and they would have done themselves proud, picking no spinner is particularly pathetic for they have a few decent ones.

Ravi Rampaul also selected which makes it even more dire. He's only had three games after coming of a long injury. Can't believe it. I still had faith in the selectors but with this squad I say fire them. I'm joining the bandwagon.

Sammy and Edwards haven't been picked over Samuels; Joseph and Morton have. I don't think Samuels can have any real complaints. He's had opportunities and failed to take them.

The absence of Collins is a bit bewildering. I can only guess that it's down to fitness issues. Again though, I don't think Lawson has a cast-iron case for inclusion ahead of Rampaul or Edwards. Like Ravi, he's had a long time out of the game and had a worryingly high economy rate despite taking a lot of wickets this season. I understand doubts also still persist about his action. Rampaul performed when it mattered in the biggest game of the domestic season. Still, the choice of Edwards ahead of "Wasim" Collins, if not Lawson, needs some explaining.

I'd like to see a spinner included, but I'm not convinced that Mohammed is a test bowler. Is there anyone better than him? Jaggernauth perhaps? On the plus side, the inclusion of Sammy does give them more options (e.g. 3 quicks plus Bravo/Sammy) and you can't argue that he hasn't earned a shot. Isn't he an excellent fielder too?

With regard to the likely result, I'd be going for England 4-0 whatever squad was picked and even if BCL hadn't been forced out prematurely.

Ridiculous squad. Samuels has had quite a few chances, but he seems to have been dropped on the back on a relatively poor World Cup which is completely dire. The bowlers selected say it all though really. Where are Collins and Mohammed?

Wierd seeing a WI side with no Lara.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if Sky NZ will show the tour?
