Really how many people in Sydney would really want to see Broncos vs Storm over two Sydney teams, regardless of where they finished last season, or currently are placed this season. Im sure there would be a lot more people upset if the two sydney sides where delayed for two interstate sides.
The Bulldogs are the most popular team in Sydney and their games always rate their socks off, a lot of neutral fans like watching the Tigers play because we play with panache and have Benji Marshall.

More confusing than picking Tahu is leaving out Alan Tongue.

If you look at the 3 backrowers from both sides it's pretty hard to find a place for Tongue.

The front rowers aren't so good though, I can' believe Bryce Gibbs is playing. I'm not sure who's a city or country boy, but surely Dane Tilse, Joel Clinton or Adam Woolnough is better then Gibbs.

Basically the front row is already pick for the State of Orgin with O'Meley, Mason, Bailey and Kite near certainities to play. Most of the front rowers picked on both sides were off the bench, but with Simpson also likely to play a bit of front row of the bench, there also not much chance they will pick another front rower. So it looks like the selectors went for a few extra backrowers in both sides, as there is couple spots up for gaps with no BK, O'Donnell or Menzies this season.

How unlucky is Scott Prince? Playing very well and he won't have a hope in playing Origin unless injury. Mark Minichello has been called up to replace Reni Maitua for City.

Anybody want to take a crack at naming Origin teams? I know Matt Bowen has been talked about in red hot form but if he is going to get picked then he will be at 17 and I remember what he did in his past Origin efforts. Not flash.

Hazard a guess that the Queensland backline could look like:

1- Hunt
2- Slater
3- Hodges
4- Inglis
5- Tate (If he is fit then he is a good chance since the selectors love him)
6- Lockyer (c)
7- Thurston

Can't see the backline being much different than that. Which is very unfortunate for guys like Bell and & Tonga. Certainly the selectors will have more trouble leaving guys out than finding spots for them.

This would be my side for the 1st Orgin

1. A Minichiello
2. M King
3. J Lyon
4. M Cooper
5. B Stewart
6. C Gower
7. B Kimmorley
8. B Kite
9. D Buderus (c)
10. L Bailey
11. W Mason
12. N Hindmarsh
13. R Maitua

14. B Hornby
15. M O'Meley
16. S Stimpson
17. A Ryan

Personally i would go for both Gower and Kimmorley in the halves, with the option of Hornby of the bench. Would love Brett Stewart to get a run on the wing, the other specialist wingers haven't really stepped up this season. I reckon he deserves a chance. Maitua gets the last backrower spot infont of Hoffman and Gallen. I reckon he can add a bit extra to the side, play a simlar role to Menzies.

Forward pack looks pretty good, as does the outside backs. But the real question mark is the halves.

Hornby has been over looked for city v country, cant see how he will make the origin side, all's Gidley has to do is stay fit and the bench spot is his imo...

On the fullback issue, i see Mini's background as a winger will actually count against him, the selectors will pick him there because they know he can play the position rather than go with someone like Stewart on the wing who has never played there...

Yeah, totally agree. Not what I'd go with. Wouldn't have Bowen anywhere near the QLD side, but you know what Miles & Co. are like. I'm not going to mention the 'S' word.
The only position i'd consider Bowen for is fullback, he's shown he's not an impact player off the bench as such but theres a 0% chance in my books that he will get Hunt's spot...

Man, it's going to be good having Crocker back. One of my favourite players, when we were going through that uninspiring period, he was the standout and wore the passion on his sleeve. Should be next captain after Lockyer retires.
