Bah... I've never liked Surrey :@

Great recovery by Key and Tredwell for Kent, but how on earth did we ever slip to 52-7?? Another disappointing start to the season for Kent fans.

Dire performance by Lancashire end of.

Good to see we'll have Flintoff and Anderson available for the CC game against Hants on May 9 (Mahmood is also available but hopefully won't play). It's looking like we'll need them at this point in time.

Good to see Trott in the runs yesterday

Good to see Soms get off to a good start.

Was at Hants v Middx yesterday, decent game. Fantastic hundred from Nic Pothas, which included a reverse sweep for four off the bowling of Chris Silverwood. Also caught a look at young Billy Godleman in his List A debut, and I am very impressed, despite the fact he only got 18. One to watch for sure.

Ah but Pete Trego got 4-54 off 10 :D. Admittedly his batting was crap - just the 2 runs.

Good win for Somerset, that. Craig Kieswetter is feckin awesome!
When is Kieswetter English?? Judging by their world cup they could do with even more help from the rest of the world..

He's going for England, not SA, now. Woohoo :D
I thought he was going for the cash myself.

Kieswetter’s lack of ambition is startling for such a young individual. Spurned Cricket South Africa’s advances for a few quid with the quota system as his get out excuse.

Somerset must be paying him handsomely for not many cricketers would turn down international cricket until their mid twenties. I would greet everyone one of Craig’s ducks with great pleasure but unfortunately his a talent and the chances of him not prospering on concrete are nil.

I tend to slag him off because of that...
That isn't slagging him off his ability as a one day player though is it? That is just slagging him off because he's always bloody injured. Unless of course the reason he doesn't play is because it is generally accepted at Glamorgan and in the England setup that he just isn't good enough for the one day arena. I'm just assuming he hasn't played that many OD matches because when he is fit they dare not play him in both forms because they fear his body won't stand up to it. I doubt after 24 matches Glamorgan would have just given up on him as a od player based on ability or potential. 24 domestic and 8 international game is not enough to make that kind of judgment especially for a player who is always coming back from injury.

He has a British passport already.....his mum's British I do believe. Anyway, he has more of a chance of playing for England than SA, what with Boucher being so good and Eng lacking in talent.

Will Pietersen play in that game? Warne was writing about how good it would be for the domestic game if there was cloud cover overhead, Anderson at one end, Flintoff at the other and Pietersen at the crease.

Most of his career his lack of OD matches have been not because of injury but (understandible) perceived lack of skill. Jones has never been very accurate, and probably never will be, and until very, very recently was not much of a new-ball bowler.

I'll not be surprised if he never becomes a one-day bowler of any note, myself, TBH.

Fair enough, I suppose some players are just not suited to ODI. I don't pretend to be the most knowledgeable person regarding cricket. So I will ask a similar question to the one I asked about Vaughan (if you remember). Why can't Jones convert his Test talent (although I guess the jury still has to be out on that, one great series doesn't mean he is as talented as his performance suggests) to OD matches. I suppose you have answered my question 'accuracy', obviously it's slightly less damaging in tests if you concede runs and take wickets than in ODI.

Second question why do I get forward to every ball that I face in the nets (never played in a match) and even my garden. I just can't seem to stop myself. I can't play leg glances either. Or spin. Or extreme pace. You can just ignore this one.

Second one makes sense to me - I work in the exact opposite way. Can never move my front foot, regardless of what the ball is being used. I can't play almost any type either - ball always goes in the air whenever I hit it. Nor can I hit the ball through the leg-side.

As for Jones - it really is as simple as an accuracy issue. Added to the other thing I mentioned - he's still far from a proven new-ball bowler. The only time Jones has ever revealed a true skill is with a ball in a condition to reverse-swing. This you get less of in ODIs than you do in Tests, and even when you do the big requirement is normally Yorkers. Jones is more a good-length than Yorker bowler.

Key and Cook both out for ducks in their respective games, while Kabir Ali has figures of 6-2-16-5 (admittedly against a university side).

Great signs for English cricket that...

I don't think it's strange at all - if it was affecting his game, surely it was the right move?

Ah, fair enough.

ARGH!! Somerset 71-5, White caught on 11 & Blackie out for a golden duck
