Durham wrapped up their victory fairly quickly, Harmison finishing with a Michelle. Hoggard running through Surrey. Looking marginally better for English cricket now.

Anyone know what's gone wrong with Loudon's bowling?

He seems to be playing primarily as a batsman (scored a 100 @ 5 and was only the eighth bowler called upon)
Loudon is and always has been a batsman who bowls - and not bowls very well, either.

He was always primarily a batsman AFAIK - one of the many "batsman-spinners" England have picked for ODIs, including Blackwell, Yardy, Dalrymple and at one stage even Vikram Solanki. Bemusing selection policy which I've never understood really.
Nah, Solanki was never picked with bowling in mind, really - took him an age to bowl for the first time in ODIs.

Solanki was only ever a bowler at u19 level.

He batted at eight and bowled for a period. Typically one who does that would be considered a bowler. I know mentioning Solanki was a stretch, but he seemed to be temporarily occupying the "batsman-spinner" position in the side without bowling for a while by batting at #8 - below Geraint Jokes mind you. Then he eventually did bowl while in that role - possibly because the captain assumed he could judging by his strange selection and batting position. :p

He only ever batted so stupidly low in the Supersub era, which said far more about that nonsense concept than it did about selection follies.

Eight more games at Taunton...
Yeah, take your point, but it takes more than simply batting on a flat track to get above 300. He could get dodgy decisions, lose concentration, get run out - even batting at Taunton for an entire season, he'd be doing very well to get over 300 again this season.

I was going to say that he'd be facing stronger bowling attacks as well, but then realised that the likes of Leicestershire and Derbyshire are still to come

Yes I saw that pitiful effort at the Oval I'm afraid. Spent longer travelling to and from the game than watching cricket. Interesting to get a first look at Rashid though.

He had a pretty good game actually, 7 wickets and a half century.

Poor first game for Worcs, lets hope its not a sign of things to come! :@ We relied on 1-2 bowlers far too much last year, which we just cant do this.
