Sorry, not sure that entirely makes sense. Beckham being better off has nothing to do with how good MLS is or will be. I think Beckham's presence there will help them a little, even if only by the tiniest of margins, towards further improvement of their game.

It always has been. The likes of Beckenbauer and Pele spent seasons near the end of their career in America.Craig's answer makes perfect sense. The MLS will be considered something other than a highly-paid retirement home when players move across the pond for reasons of career advancement rather than financial advancement.
