*Official* English Football Season 2006-07

Just seen the PFA nominees, bit of a joke tbh, I haven't seen Fabregas play well in weeks, Gerrard has was also extremely mediocre at the start of the season (though that was more the fault of Benitez tbf), yet someone who has been brilliant all season - Essien - isn't there.

I see Juan Pable Angel is set to join David Beckham in the US, but this time with the New York red Bulls. Despite being 31, I wouldn't have said he was coming to the end of his career is all washed up. I can understand somebody like Luis Figo to go off for one last pay day (although he has been successfull at Inter) in the Middle East, but it is quite a backward step IMO to go play in America. Plus Angel is only going to be getting £40,000 a week approx, and I don't think that will be much more then what he is getting at Aston Villa, if he isn't already on that now (he is their record signing). He would of been better of looking for another Premiership club, and I'm sure there would be a few offers about. Hey if Francis Jeffers can keep getting a Premiership contract despite all the failure at his past clubs inluding Rangers, then Angel would have no problems.

While I see Glenn Roeder (who by the way I'm amazed he still has a job) has rubbished reports that MU are going to make an offer for Michael Owen. Career wise it would be good for Owen, but somehow I think a lynch mob from Liverpool will be waiting outside OT to 'greet' their former golden boy.

And this article is interesting indeed.

How long do you guys think it will be before MLS is considered a quality league?

Regarding Owen, nobody at the United Rant forums wanted him when the report came out - we already have one injury-prone striker in Saha, we don't need another.

When they stop buying 30 plus year old players and offering hige amounts of cash as well. David Beckham was better off going to Italy or back to England then go to America.

You think MLS would be better off without Beckham? Sorry, not sure that entirely makes sense. Beckham being better off has nothing to do with how good MLS is or will be. I think Beckham's presence there will help them a little, even if only by the tiniest of margins, towards further improvement of their game.

Read it again, I said David Beckham would of been better of going to Italy or back to England and for christs sake I meant Beckham and his own career. Seriously how much do have to explain things to people on here? People like Marc (and his mate Mr Camps) has in the past liked to have a go at me for not reading posts, well it seems as though other posters are even worse.

Beckham has only gone to the MLS for the money, simple as that and his low IQ wife can try bring her own 'career' (whatever that may be) back into the spotlight.

Wake up on the wrong side of bed, Craig? Calm down.

And yes, I know what you meant about Beckham and his own career. That's exactly why I said Beckham being better off has nothing to do with my question.

Your answer made no sense as you first state that the MLS will be better quality by not paying large sums for 30+ year olds, and then you say that Beckham should go to a better quality league... clearly meaning you think he's too good for the MLS. Which means that him being at the MLS would, naturally, improve the league, meaning that buying a 30 year old for a large sum has improved the quality of the league... marginally, but it has. Unless there's a good argument against that...

Craig's answer makes perfect sense. The MLS will be considered something other than a highly-paid retirement home when players move across the pond for reasons of career advancement rather than financial advancement.

If Beckham is good enough for La Liga, Serie A or the Premiership then surely the words "retirement home" aren't 100% justified. Yes, I concede he wouldn't go there if he was younger, but having said that, any Premiership team would have loved to have him so it's not like he's completely past it. Otherwise you may as well say La Liga are a retirement home for buying a 30+ Ruud, who is in a position where people traditionally tire at an earlier age than those in Beckham's position.

Every league in the world pays big money for 30+ year old players. I guess a better way to put that response would have been "When they can also entice 20-25 year olds in European leagues to come over instead of just 30+ year olds."

It always has been. The likes of Beckenbauer and Pele spent seasons near the end of their career in America.

Chief wanker of the universe aka CDMs' chief whingeur gets yet another warning:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/C/CDMs/6561059.stm

Chief wanker of the universe also added in yet another incident where he was displaying his utter wankerness "I think I am big enough to say when I am wrong and big enough to accept it" - Showing he's also a massive hypocrite to boot, think of the Alan Pardew incident if you fail to get that.

What does he have to do to actually get a proper punishment?

Hmmm, think I'm going to be supporting the CDMs in their next few games, need them to be in form for the Chelsea game - if they get anything there it's game over as far as the League's concerned IMO.
