The Irish batsman were actually struggling against Saqibul, Rafique and Razzaq until Johntson and Kevin O'Brien started to belt them around a bit near the end. When Porterfield and Bray decided to use their feet and hit down the ground it was quite effective, but they couldn't nudge it around and milk them through the middle overs.Good win for Ireland, writing was always on the cards once Ireland had negated Bangladesh's three prone spin attack by batting first.
Would have been a considerably harder task in the second innings for the wicket had lost a considerable amount of pace and inconsistent bounce was apparent. The Irish batsman were actually struggling against Saqibul, Rafique and Razzaq until Johntson and Kevin O'Brien started to belt them around a bit near the end. I didn't actually catch the second innings but I imagine it would have been much harder facing them then, as you mentioned. I take it you didn't see Shadhadat Hossain bowling? He was very impressive, had a couple of chances drop short of the slips and found the edge on quite a few occasions. Bowled with good pace and got some nice shape early on, I can't see why you would label him as "hapless"Would have been a considerably harder task in the second innings for the wicket had lost a considerable amount of pace and inconsistent bounce was apparent.
Bangladesh’s best option considering Rasel was replaced by the rather hapless Shahadat Hossain is to bat first. Although, considering the great difficulty they made out of facing pace bowling once more in the second innings, a defeat would have still probably occurred.
Most definitely Tim, Bangladesh are a team void of consistency but evidently also a team void of a plan b and rigorous approach to batting. They play cricket on the fly almost with just raw emotion and they always seem one dropped catch, one bad shot, one bad ball away from losing that spark and desire. The problem for Bangladesh is that they are taking a few giant steps forward then a couple backwards. But, they have shown they can compete in more games than previously so the future is good if Ireland and Bangladesh are at least applying some pressure right now.
Compared to the steady hand of Syed Rasel, Shahadat seemed a little bit too raw for me and he struggled to almost land two balls on the same length or line. Although, he bowled with a decent lick and his action is not awful, just was not the right combo with Mortaza for me.I didn't actually catch the second innings but I imagine it would have been much harder facing them then, as you mentioned. Hmm shocked tbh... but if Bang can beat RSA and India, then why can't Ireland beat Bang?
Simple as that. In the one day game anything can happen..... expect Australia losing .
I disagree entirely, I thought Shadhadat bowled really well even though his accuracy wasn't too flash. Early on he swung the ball and looked very likely to take wickets, after his initial burst he pegged the batsman back a little bit and kept the run rate down. This guy has genuine potential, he was bowling almost 140 km/h which is very quick for a Bangladeshi bowler, couple that with his height and swing and he could be deadly. Needs to do some gym work though, he's far too skinny to survive as a fast bowler.Compared to the steady hand of Syed Rasel, Shahadat seemed a little bit too raw for me and he struggled to almost land two balls on the same length or line. what's the point exactly? Ireland is a good side and so is bangladesh, and this is sports winning and losing is part of it.You should learn one thing out of this.. If IRL can score 240 against BAN, poor IND could not score even 200. And If IRL can bowl out IRLfor 168 IND could nt bowl out IRL for 192 ...Poor IND....
Again it really shows how idiot team is IND but great only with great individuals. They are a bad team side. I know this is not a reasonable comparison, but I would like to get this point known to everyone
Unfornutate thing for him is that he is quite expensive of the 3 pacers. But if he is a little more accurate like Rasel, he can be a threat in the future. Poor Rasel, had to retire hurt just before the match started today .....things went totally horrible from there, and adding Ashraful's finger dislocation to that.....*sigh*.....oh well, the good thing that came out of this match was that Ireland has gained ODI status .....hurt that my team lost but pretty happy that the Irish are in and I daresay, they'll be a handful in the near future if their cricketing structure developes soon !!!!!I disagree entirely, I thought Shadhadat bowled really well even though his accuracy wasn't too flash. Ireland had odi status since like 2005. The top 6 associates that qualify for the wc gains ODI status but Ireland gained promotion from the associate odi rankings to main odi rankings.Unfornutate thing for him is that he is quite expensive of the 3 pacers. Is a the most expensive but he's also the quickest and tallest, I think he has more potential than Syed Rasel, especially in Test matches. Ireland have had ODI status for a while now and their victory over Bangladesh hasn't changed that, but it hasn't made them ODI class either which you may be suggesting.Unfornutate thing for him is that he is quite expensive of the 3 pacers. I understand what you mean now after reading cricinfo, they have entered the ICC ODI Rankings because they have defeated two Test playing nations. Good news for them I suppose, but I think they will end up sitting at the bottom and not making much progress due to the lack of ODI's they will play. I like the look of Shadhadat too, it's not often you see a Bangladeshi fast bowler actually bowl with much pace. He's one for the future.@ Perm: *See above please* (&): True, I always liked Shahadat, but he just needs to be a little more consistent. He is after all the first hat-trick taker for Bangladesh .....and yes he is the fastest the Bangers have .....just did not get any aid from the fielders today though !!!!!
The ICC doesn't give permanent ODI status anymore which is a good thing, because there's a check every 4 years and then you go on. Kenya will lose theirs too in 2009 unless they qualify for the wc or get test status. Todays win promoted Ireland to the main table but if they don't qualify for the wc then they'll lose it. But I'm sure they will.@ LA ICE-E: Oh, no I don't quite mean that but they have had the ODI status for a temporary 2 year period prior to today's win. Today's win have moved them up to being a permanent ODI team.....at least that is what the ICC say !!!!!
No, they may move up and down fighting with kenya and zimbabwe. But they do have odi's and other things confirmed with icc organizing some for them.I understand what you mean now after reading cricinfo, they have entered the ICC ODI Rankings because they have defeated two Test playing nations.
