.Allright why pick Broad ahead of Mahmood who actually bowled half decently against Bangladesh. IMO Broad shouldn't come anywhere near the X1 and he won't
Because we're not going to be playing any more teams who are as useless as Banga are on a bouncy wicket.

Mahmood has been almost entirely crap every game he's played, including every other game in the World Cup he played in. It's not even remotely debatable that he should be nowhere near this England ODI side.

What would make Broad a better alternative though?.The guy is totally unproven in ODI's and IMO he wouldn't do any better than Mahmood. Also Mahmood would have troubled better players than the Bangladeshi batsmen on that pitch. What message does it send to drop someone when they've at least had a decent game?.

What message does it send to drop someone who helped win the CB series and took 3 top order wickets in the first two games so you can give an extended run to a complete donkey who can't bat, can't field, can't bowl and can't even make his own county side. Mahmood got some fluke wickets against SL and had some easy games and his record is still one of the worst you'll find in ODI cricket.

You really think Plunkett is that much better than Mahmood?. Yes I appreciate that he bowled well in Australia but I'll be extremely surprised if he reproduces that form in the next year. There both as bad as each other TBH.God I'd name about 10 county bowlers who I'd rather have then those two...

Go on then.

If you'd rather have all of those than Plunkett you clearly know sweet FA about cricket.
Does the word economy rate ring a bell?.Oh yeah Plunkett's a "wicket taker" isn't he...8-).The likes of Ealham,Mascheranhas and Sidebottom all have better economy rates than Plunkett.I'd guarantee Chapple,Kirtley and Sidebottom would all do better than Plunkett if they were playing ODI cricket.

How do you know those County trundlers would do any better with their economy rate? They certainly wouldn't have done as well as Plunkett did in the CB series.

Because the likes of Ealham,Mascheranhas and Tom Smith actually bowl with accuracy and control which totally elude Plunkett when he bowls. The problem is that there is no chance for these types of bowlers playing for England as they are deemed either to "defensive", not fast enough or are not "wickettakers"."County trundlers" is a pretty pathetic way to describe some very skilled bowlers and I'd certainly rather have Ealham or Tom Smith compared to the rubbish Plunkett bowls. He had a good half dozen matches in the CB series but I'd be extremely surpised if he reproduces that sort of form for a while.

Do you see what happens to Lewis when the ball stops moving?

The World Cup would be flooded with those sorts of players if they were as effective at county level as they are at international level - but most of them won't be.

I don't want to imagine Mark Ealham v Matthew Hayden on a carribbean flat track. They might be OK bowlers on green seamers, but it's a big nono on flat decks.

I don't really want to imagine Plunkett,Mahmood or Broad on a flat pitch as well...
Plunkett and Saj move it in the air. As for Broad it's the skiddy/shorter bowlers that will just come on nicely on a flat pitch and get smacked - most of SA's attack, Gough, Kabir Ali etc. for example.

I'd have Ealham over Plunkett. Ealham was a very decent bowler from what I remember......

Plunkett is far too inconsistent
