Unbelievable spell of bowling by Rafique. I still find it amazing that Bangladesh have 3 quality left arm spinners, and it quite often works. Obviously conditions were perfect for them today, but to be fair they had to get it in the right areas and keep the pressure on without too much short and loose stuff, and they made sure that was kept to a minimum.
Don't know about anybody else but I've always considered him one of the those under-rated bowlers. Probably be rated higher if he were Indian or from somewhere else.

Speaking of Julian, has anyone seen that Gillette Fusion ad during the cricket with him. Whats with him ignoring all the women and knocking the bodyguard and then both of them give this weird smile? Strangest ad, dead set.

Wouldn't have ever got a game if he were Indian though. He's great by Bangladesh standards, but I highly doubt a country like India with so many spin options would have needed him. No doubt South Africa would have given him a game at one stage though.. :p

What about England (before Monty Panesar) and West Indies? :p

West Indies would have probably ignored him due to the fact that they rarely actually select spinners. Giles was better than Rafique IMO - and even if England did pick Rafique, he probably would have received Giles-like ridicule.

but wishing to break his ribs! that's awful.
Although it clearly was a joke, I don't see what's so terrible about wanting to break the batsman's ribs. If he's going to charge the bowler, he's going to get hit inevitably.

South Africa - forever mouthy, forever failing to back it up. **** I hate them.
Such strong words and so silly. This is just a game! We lost. Everybody has at some time. They won. Everybody has at some time. Enjoy it. No need to hate or be emotional.

That bodyguard guy is just weird, I mean why is he smiling?

I can't believe someone actually made that ad tbh, people actually think up this stuff?

Well said, in the end it's only a game. I actually thought Graeme Smith handled the press conference quite well, was very humble in defeat and acknowledged his team were outplayed. How I'd love to see Ponting up there, humiliated by one of these minnow teams who "don't deserve to be there". Would make my entire year.

today for some reason i knew it was going to be the minnows's day. i was about to write a post and predict that Bang is going to win the match but for some reason i couldn't. it was a good win.

Congratulations Bangladesh.

SA loss means the race for 3 of the 4 spots has , IMO , opened up again and any of the 5 teams could make the 3 semi final berths still.

SA net run rate being poor means, they have to win all three remaining games.(West Indies, NZ , England)

England need to win at least 3 of the remaining 4 with only a narrow loss in the 4th .( Australia, Bangladesh, SA, West Indies)

West Indies must win their remaining 3 .(SA, Bangladesh, England)

SL must win 2 of three . ( NZ, Australia, Ireland) but may sneak in with narrow losses to NZ and Australia and a big win over Ireland.

NZ must win 2 of their remaining 4 (Ireland, SL , Australia, SA) but may sneak in with 1 win and narrow losses in remaining 3 .
what about bangladesh they are on 2 more points than west indies and have the same amount of games left, more chance than West indies

both have an outside chance...it would be great if England beat the aussies tomorrow though, then the supper 8 would be more open but if they lose they will at the same spot they would had SA won, so it would make things interesting if England can pull of a win tomorrow

Re-*****-diculous... Well played Bangladesh, I think SA should follow our Indian and Pakistani friends on the next flight out of the Carribean.. Absolutely disgusting from a team that make such big noises about their chances to play such weak cricket..

They are still not out of the World Cup.. they have just made it a little harder for themselves.

May be this could be the turning point that will make them come out stronger thru the rest of their games .

Jamee's Attempt at Predicting The Super Eights

This is the table atm:
Code:
Australia 3-0 --- 6pts
Sri Lanka 3-1 --- 6pts
New Zealand 3-0 --- 6pts
South Africa 2-2 --- 4pts
England 1-2 --- 2pts
West Indies 1-3 --- 2pts
Bangladesh 1-3 --- 2pts
Ireland 0-3 --- 0pts
These are the fixtures, with my predictions to the side:

Australia vs England - Australia win
Ireland vs New Zealand - New Zealand win
West Indies vs South Africa - South Africa win
England vs Bangladesh - Bangladesh win
Sri Lanka vs New Zealand - Sri Lanka win
Australia vs Ireland - Australia win
South Africa vs New Zealand - New Zealand win
Bangladesh vs Ireland - Bangladesh win
Australia vs Sri Lanka - Australia win
South Africa vs England - South Africa win
Ireland vs Sri Lanka - Sri Lanka win
West Indies vs Bangladesh - Bangladesh win
Australia vs New Zealand - Australia win
West Indies vs England - England win

Which would leave the table:

Australia 7-0 --- 14pts
New Zealand 5-2 --- 10pts
Sri Lanka 5-2 --- 10pts
South Africa 4-3 --- 8pts
Bangladesh 4-3 --- 8pts
England 2-5 --- 4pts
West Indies 1-6 --- 2pts
Ireland 0-7 --- 0pts

And the semis as:

Australia vs South Africa/Bangladesh
New Zealand vs Sri Lanka

So, let's see how wrong I am (hopefully starting with a bad prediction on Match 1)...

Stranger things have happened. The Tigers are on fire, and were are just ****e. Expect them to win tbh.
Hmm. Well, the bookies are still offering 5/1 on the Banglas so could be worth a quid or two if anyone's convinced. Me, I still think the 1/10 on us is better value.
