Ridiculous change IMO. You should not need batting down to 9 to win a match. Dwayne Smith hasn't bowled in two games and yet he's in the side to bat 9 (I'm sure he'll bowl in this game, but there's no denying who the better bowler is..).From Cricinfo.com
"Team changes Lendl Simmons comes in for Jerome Taylor."
Surprised with that change, even with Taylor's form with the ball. However, beefing up the batting is as sensible move and Lara should be at three for me.
If Mason isn't going to open the bowling, then there's no way he should get anywhere near the team really. If the bowl isn't moving, Mason goes the journey. He's basically doing it in the interests of comparative advantage.I think from a West Indian point of view Gayle needs to fire big time.
Mason opening the bowling, suprising!!
Not necessarily true, he can be quite a decent line and length bowler if he is going well. When he isn't going well he is usually utter tripe and loses it completely. If Mason isn't going to open the bowling, then there's no way he should get anywhere near the team really. Fair enough - haven't seen heaps of him at international level. He takes me as someone that could be very hitable if the ball wasn't moving though, as he has average control, virtually no variation pace in the low 130s.Not necessarily true, he can be quite a decent line and length bowler if he is going well. He has been likened to McGrath in the NZ media a few times, obviously not as classy as him but in the same mould bowling wise. Ofcourse, when he is off target his lack of pace really hurts him as you said. It wasn't that long ago when Sanath Jayasuriya was pasting him all over NZ,Fair enough - haven't seen heaps of him at international level.
