How is it? Both Yuvraj and Laxman have proven themselves against some of the very best attacks in world cricket, whearas Tikolo hasn't really.
You could probably make a case for him being better than Yuvraj, I suppose (although a very artificial one which I wouldn't agree with) but certainly not Laxman.

Has Yuvraj proven himself in test cricket?.
When batting on road wars he has. Though, saying that a test average under 40 is pretty unacceptable considering the standard of test wickets in world cricket. However, for me is still 'better' than Tikolo. Steve was once a very good player still maybe better than Wasim Jaffer but the only international test side he would make (currently) is the Bangladeshi one.

and if tikilo would make the bd team, he would make some other teams as well...
I don't get your logic. Bangladesh have the worst batting lineup out of all the test-playing teams (unless you count Zimbabwe) so it's quite conceivable that he'd make the Bangladesh team and not the others.

I think he'd have a shot at making the West Indies team, but he really wouldn't be guarenteed a spot there. I mentioned NZ earlier but after giving it more thought, I don't think he'd have much chance there tbh.

Tikolo is a good player and would probably have been able to have had a decent county career (he did in fact play briefly for Border in SA).

However, people take his achievements out of context. He is a talented guy and has scored good runs but he isnt and wasnt capable of being prefered over any good test cricketer.

I'd say Tikolo might have got a go in some top sides, I doubt he would have cemented a place. One of those things we'll never really know I guess, given a lack of substantial high-level First Class games.

i once read a interview of Tikolo and he said that when he plays against weak minnow sides his motivation is low and thats why he often gets out cheaply against them and thats why his average is lower, when he plays againsts stronger teams then his motivation is high and does good. i beleive if Tikolo was on a stronger team playing against stronger sides his average would definatly be way better because of his motivation level, his technique and timing have always been superb, he's a very classy player..

He can say it all he wants, but it isnt true. His OD averages are far healthier against the small nations and his ICC trophy average is nearly 20 runs higher than his ODI average.

Good player but stands out due to the lack of quality surrounding him.

Why is SA's test batting line-up so special?
With Smith, Kallis and Prince all certainties to for the top 6 and Gibbs, Amla, de Villiers all fairly sound and reasonably secure of their places it would be one of the harder batting line-ups to crack. I know the last three have been out of test match form, but class is permanent in the case of Gibbs, and with Amla and de Villiers they have two younger (in terms of experience) batsman trying to make their mark at test level.

Disagree tbh, its less than a year ago that Gibbs was dropped.

My point was that he singled out Aus and SA as the only teams Tikolo couldn't make. I don't think current-day Tikolo could make any of the major 8 test batting line-ups, but for him to put SA's test batting on a pedastal ahead of other teams confuses me a bit, as if Tikolo would walk into the others but not SA's.

I was going to mention Amla but thought I'd let the poor bloke go, but Prince EWS makes it clear. SA's batting over the last 2 years hasn't really been better than any other nation in terms of the top 6, its just that they've had their lower order chip in on countless occasions and bail them out. Cricinfo had stats on this actually, they had the best lower order in terms of % of team runs in test cricket, just ahead of NZ IIRC.

Dont think SAF will be that a competitive side against SRL ....Accepted that they are hard hitters but against Murali and jaya..its gonna be tough....It would be good fixture btween SRL and SAF in S8

Vincent out of the WC. Wrist Injury...Bond again is the culprit .

Really blow for NZ before S8

Yeah that is bad news, I am guessing Papps will get the call up on his current form. A long shot is pleading to Astle, his bowling could be a asset on the slower pitches. Or open with McCullum *sigh* and bring in Adams or Harris.

Surely has to be Papps. If it's not, I'll be pretty hacked off. Just our luck, we finally get a world-beating squad together and we keep injuring each other.

Bond shouldn't be allowed to bowl to our batsmen anymore.
