Group B - Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Bermuda

Bangladesh just need to beat Bermuda and hope that SL don't lose to India, the margin won't matter.

Edit: don't necessarily need SL to win.

So Bangladesh must be favourites at this point. SL > India.
Good thing about this format: The old "last match doesn't matter", which happens all the time at Euro and WC football, doesn't hold for SL, since they can earn two points and vast amounts of NRR by taking Bangladesh with them.

So the match will have plenty of nerve for both teams. Excellent. :)

Theoretically, yeah. It's in SL's interest for Bangladesh to advance as they've already beaten them, hence will carry forward those points to the Super 8 (whereas the only way India can advance is by beating SL, meaning SL won't carry forward any points). India still have a lot more to play for though, so I wouldn't put it past them to beat SL.

Edit: Vimes beat me to it.

They're pefectly capable yes. All they need is for any one of Dhoni, Tendulkar, Ganguly, Yuvraj, Sehwag to fire big style, and they can easily win it.

So Bangladesh could lose and still go through?
Nah, if Bermuda win and Sri Lanka win there'll be three teams on two points, and Sri Lanka will have six points. Bangladesh' run rate is down the famous creek after this game, so India will presumably go through on NRR. (It is theoretically conceivable that, say, Bangladesh get bowled out for five and Leverock slogs the first ball for six, and Sri Lanka beat India by a similar margin, in which case Bermuda will go through.)

Highly unlikely unless they completely obliterate Bermuda and India does the same to SL.
He said "Bangladesh could lose and still go through", not "India could win and Bangladesh could still go through" ;)

I have a question if India beat SL by a small margin on Friday, will Bangladesh have atleast a decent chance of going through? I mean they'll obviously have to destroy Bermuda, but by approx. how much, anyone know?

Isn't NRR calculated on the total number of overs in the group stages rather than on a match-by-match basis (BT style)?
Yeah. I hadn't done the maths, it seems India's run rate is too good anyway. They need something like a 600-run defeat, which is probably beyond the bounds of all probability.

Haha, I did a quick calculation in my head and thought it might still be theoretically possible so I deleted my post. Gave the reason as 'dont want Vimes to one-up me again'.
