I dont think one needs to read too much into wins/losses this late in the season, yeah Dallas lost, So what, Just like their wins dont matter now, their loss doesn't matter either. They are much more relaxed than they were early in the season. I would be worried if they lose a couple playoff games in similar situation and that would basically prove that they have not improved an iota from last season. On the other hand if they can win such games in playoffs, they will bring a Championship to the city of Dallas.

IMO Dallas should start watching Miami/SA/Detroit/Phoenix games now and get ready for the playoffs.

yeah that's pretty much all they need to get worried about....a couple of weeks back i wouldn't have included miami in that list but they have been streaking recently and o'neal has been carrying them and some of the big-name reserves like walker, posey, williams etc are now slowly starting to play like the stars they were in their previous franchises....i still don't think they can defend their title or even win the east without a fully-fit wade but they are becoming a team that no one in the east wants to meet in the playoffs....

Great game from LeBron today, 24 Points & 17 boards against Utah to give the Cavs their 8th win in a row.

Phoenix will most likely end up as the second seed, meaning they'll have to beat San Antonio AND Dallas to reach the Finals. If Dallas are the number one seed, they can avoid Phoenix or San Antonio until the Western Conference Finals, not to mention they'll have home court advantage throughout.

That's a massive advantage and a reason to keep their four game lead over the Suns.

Home court advantage means nothing. They had Home Field advantage last year in the Championship too.

Miami were only the second team in NBA Finals history to win the middle three home games since the 2-3-2 format was adopted in 1985.

Besides, the format for the rest of the playoffs is 2-2-1-1-1.

Home court advantage is massive, since very few teams have ever won a Championship on the road.

:( Cavs go down by 8 in OT against the Bobcats after leading for pretty much the entire game.

Kobe becomes the 4th player in NBA history to score at least 50 points in 3 straight games. In terms of total points scored, this is the best 3 game stretch in history! :-O Even Wilt in his 50 pts/game season didn't have this kind of stretch. This is impressive, to state the obvious. I maintain that when he's on, there is no one that can match Kobe in pure talent. I believe he's the best player in the league. However, he's too mentally unstable to have on your team. He's selfish, stubborn, and can't get along with another star on the team. However, you've just got to admire his talent. I know we throw around the Jordan comparisons all the time and they're tiring, but IMO Kobe is the closest anyone has come to Jordan since he retired.

That's true about Kobe, one of my fav. players to watch and IMO currently the best player in NBA by some distance. I complete agree with you that he is teh closest anyone has come to Jordan, pity he doesn't have 1/100th of MJ's leadership skills.

Kobe's nowhere near MVP status, despite his spectacular scoring feat/vendetta. The MVP really ought to go to Nash. Dirk winning it would suck.

37 with 9 mins left in the 3rd. Back to back 60? Maybe 70 tonight? mvp?
not quite...but a 4th consecutive 50 and a win for the lakers over the hornets, but this one-man-show by kobe and the consequent lack of production from the other lakers must be worrying jackson....

I don't know much about basketball, but what's stopping Kobe winning it this year? He won it last year didn't he? And this one his stats have been immense
