Hey guys i saw some pictures of the aussie practice game, i just wanted to know whats wrong with their uniform they look so bad (they look pretty similar the retro ones from world series cricket[colour shades are a tad different] ), why are the three-stripes also not there on their uniform.

Duuuuuuuuh!

Forget to read the entire quote of what he quoted from me... and when I posted that post I was half-expecting someone to post something about Galle Cricket Ground...

Pratt. 8-)
Yeah, the word you were using is properly spelt without the e: gall.

The three stripes aren't there because it constitutes advertising for Adidas. There's restricted amount of sponsors you're allowed to have on your playing tops.

Do you guys agree with Ponting comments that since the wickets are slow and low they don't expect to bowl out too many teams. Don't you guys think if the wickets are slow and low the going would be equally tough for the batsmen.
If he really doesn't expect to bowl out sides, then he's indicating a severe weakness that I can't remember any Australian side having in my lifetime (or at least admitting to having).

Especially seeing as most of the other major sides bowled their opposition out.

I completly agree with marc there, i really can't understand why Ponting has to come up with such stupid statements all the time. I think aussies are so shocked after all these huge targets being chased against them that they just wanna concentrate on stopping runs being scored rather than take wickets, which obviously is the wrong attitude to have.

pup, you're a great poster mate but you should start using the Quote functionality bro. You alerted us to it this time, but sometimes, without it, it can be difficult to understand what/who you are responding to

Good to hear that Gilly has denied that he is gonna retire after the world cup, i think its a decision he is taking in the best interest of his team since 4 experienced players have already retired (Marto, langer,Warney and Pidge) so he probably didn't wanted the team to lose any more experienced blokes.

P.S: Now he needs to justify his place in the team by playing in a way that only he can. GO GILLY GO!!

IMO the more "old" players that go at once the better.

Nothing worse than for Gilchrist to "hang on" to attempt to benefit the team and end-up doing more harm to the team and himself than good.

But Gilchrist is still head and shoulders above the other wicket keeping batsmen in Australia like Haddin,Ronchi and Paine. He'll IMO still be better than them in 1-2years time.

I don't think Gilly would leave one form of the game and play in the other, he might be playing till Ashes 09 fitness and form permitting.

I say this because if he had to retire from the odi's he would have announced his retirement straight away after the WC, because there isn't any big odi tournament around the corner after the WC that you might think he would like to be a part of so its pretty obvious isn't it?

I'm very much not convinced Gilchrist is better than Haddin any more.

For me, with The Ashes secure and with so many of his mates going, now would be the perfect time for Gilchrist to leave the Test scene. Hang around in Twenty20s for the Cup in September, obviously. Make that his last appearance in an Australian team.

And if Haddin doesn't come in soon, he'll hardly have a career.

I expect he still will retire after the WC though, from the ODI team at least. It seems a perfect time to bring in Haddin really.

I truly am amazed how many people still think Gilchrist is ever going to do semi-retirement.

I don't really think he will... unless he retires after the new year's test 2008 which would work. I just think he might, whereas I definitely don't see him doing any more ODI's after the WC.

As I say - I can only see him retiring from Tests and ODIs at the same time, unless he's changed his mind from last September.
