Telegraph said:
The Uefa Control and Disciplinary Body has rejected a protest lodged by Lille following Tuesday night's Champions League match against Manchester United in Lens.

Lille questioned the validity of the goal scored by Ryan Giggs in the 83rd minute, claiming there had been a technical mistake made by the referee when he allowed the match-winning free-kick to be taken without having blown his whistle beforehand.

Uefa said in a statement: "Having examined the official referee's report, the television evidence at hand as well as the laws of the game, the Uefa Control and Disciplinary Body decided to reject the protest, as there was no proof of a technical error.

"As a result, the body declared that the goal was perfectly valid.

"Furthermore, the Control and Disciplinary Body decided to instigate proceedings against Lille for the improper behaviour of their players immediately after the goal. "

Lille are upset with the ruling and responded by saying: "We regret that Uefa do not wish to analyse the matter.

"The feeling of injustice is shared by all of those who love football.

"This decision can be appealed within three days. We will review our options and our chances with our legal advisers and we will make a decision on Monday."
That's that sorted then.

Also. Can't see why Boa Morte, Upson and Neill would leave the relative safeties of their clubs and a promotion battle in Upson's case to join a relegation struggle. Boggling.
For the £30,000 (plus) weekly pay rise? Added with the relegation release clause the boys would have done pretty well for five months work.

Think they're definitely gone tbh. Charlton to stay up now though i reckon, if Wigan hadn't been shafted at Arsenal it would still be debatable.
And if Paul Jewell hadn't had his blinkers on, he'd have noticed that Arsenal had an equally bad decision which would've more than likely changed the game well before the Heskey incident.

Two wrongs don't make a right. That's like saying Fulham never deserved their penalty yesterday because Diop should have been sent off earlier on.

Anyway did you see the Atletico Madrid-Real Madrid game Xavier? I thought Atletico were very unlucky. Lost all respect for Diarra. Somebody needs to punch him out.
Gave up at half time, got the same feeling I did earlier whilst watching Fulham vs. Man U. You just knew that Real would get a goal, even though they deserved to be at least 2-0 down in the first twenty minutes and were a complete an utter shower. Only positive is at least they won’t win the league and even if they progress against Bayern (like Man U), they have about as much chance of winning the Champions League as Bayer Leverkusen have of winning the UEFA cup (that would be the kiss of death). :)

Even with my bias and complete loathing of Man U, it was a disgrace how Diop stayed on the field. I actually thought the ref was pretty good for a time. Man U were not getting the rub of the green and most of the decisions were favouring Fulham but as soon as Michael Brown and Papa got booked, it did become rather farcical especially with Scholes and Brown.

Personally I think they should be thrown out for this season and the next season (if they qualify for Europe). Lille's conduct on and off the pitch is an absolute disgrace.
Was it really? Worse then what Glasgow Rangers fans were doing on Thursday night and two weeks earlier in Israel? And Lille unsurprisingly have blamed Man U for the crowd trouble but given Man U have form and are notoriously one of the worst supported clubs in Europe, it doesn't seem beyond the realms of plausibility that some of the blame for Tuesday night should be attributed to them.

Also before someone defends Rangers fans, when does the Red Hand Of Ulster look anything like a stiff armed Nazi salute?

United fans haven't been involved in crowd troubles for a very long time, though.

For sure and they have improved on the continent but their behaviour in this country still leaves a lot to be desired and what's Lille's rep like in regard to crowd disturbances, not that bad is it? Only when Marseille come to town.

Lille endangered lives by cramming too many people into a section and then firing tear gas into them then blame it on everyone else, they walk off the pitch after a perfectly valid goal, they then carry on humiliating the referee and then make a ridiculous appeal and keep making disgusting public statements on everything such as "the feeling of injustice is shared by all of those who love football"

They should now be kicked out of Europe for this season plus the next two seasons. You cannot let clubs behave like this - where would it end?

I'm not interested in Rangers - they're irrelevant to this.

It's no worse than several other teams in the Prem.

Anyway, I don't blame the Lille fans for this, I blame their police/administrators.

But you have to remember Lille don't have form or history for instances such as this. I'm not naive enough to suggest it's an anomaly but they didn't have a problem in earlier rounds with crowd trouble and they don't have a particularly bad reputation in France for crowd disturbances.

Personally, I don't think the trouble in Lille was enough for them to warrant a ban, you may suggest where would it end, in Lille's case Tuesday night or the next time a British club comes to town, buys tickets on the black market in parts of the ground designated for Lille fans. It does takes two to tango.

Much as I dislike the CDMs, I bet nothing happens to the Chelsea fans who lobbed stuff at Fabregas as he just took that corner.

Gits, the CDMs have scored.

Great match for the neutral, I'm really enjoying it. arsenals kids can be breathtaking, still don't rate Aliadere though.

Have a feeling Chelski are going to make the young uns rue there missed chances, in the second-half.

4-1, for the boys with the **** in the matalan coat, for mine.
