Can't belive Australia lost by 10 wickets TBH. First loss in their history by 10 wickets...which says a lot about their awesome history more than anything.

I had a feeling NZ would win but not by 10 wickets.

hmm, so Oram is now injured, who will take his place if Oram isnt fit by the time of the world cup? James Franklin? Chirs Harris?.. NZ need an allrounder, I see James Franklin as one, or if you want experience, try Chris Harris.

Franklin is already in the WC squad. Either Harry or Adams are the likely replacements if they need to add one to the squad

whats with all the people claiming "oh noes its only Australia A"

This team is missing like... 4 of its top players.. thats it.

Does Australia have zero depth in its ranks or something ???

If you guys are saying you're in trouble cause you're missing these 4 players.. then Australian cricket is really in trouble in the upcoming years...

This was a poor performance by Australia even if it was there 'B' side. There was plenty of shots in the New Zealand innings to show that it was deffinately not a pitch that was as difficult as the Australians made it look. All the bowlers bowled consistent length with consistent lines in the NZ attack but the likes of Johnson strayed all over the pitch. Poor fielding efforts, bowling and batting summed up the entire match for this squad of which the majority will be heading over to the World Cup. I am sure those Australian players are much more capable than that and considering the way they played it was a fair result.

Bonds caught and bowled was very pleasing to the eye the reaction time was 0.60 from the point it left the bat till the point it landed in his hand. He had to lean in the complete opposite direction to where he was heading. You don't see too many caught and bowleds like that.

From watching Watsons innings you could see that he was no real middle order player. I completely agree with you Ozzies that he should have been opening as soon as he played an aggressive stroke he was out.

I still enjoyed watching the game even though it was a one sided affair. Flemings performance was outstanding the whole day and that should finally shut Porore up and the others for once. To me there has never really been any problems with his captaincy recently and I think a lot of his shots showed a return to form although he was his normal tentative self at the beggining of the innings.

Jeez, I was at the ground, and I have to say without Lee, Australia's bowling attack looked completely toothless. Reminded me a lot of seeing New Zealand play over the last couple of years, without Bond. A lot of pressure on Tait now, especialy if Lee is going to struggle to make the world cup.

I don't think the weakened state of the team was really responsible for yesterday. Sure, Australia probably would have done better if they had all those players back, but yesterday's side is definitely capable of much better cricket than that.

Take Fleming, Vettori, Bond, Taylor and Oram out of the NZ side and they'd struggle.
I think it more comes down to the fact that a lot of people constantly talk up the depth and strength of Australian cricket and how an Australia A side would beat most other full strength nations.

That obviously just isn't the case.

It was one game. Relax a little. :p

It's worth remembering before people go on too much about Australia's lack of depth that the Australian ODI team has been using a regular rotation policy for years now. This is far from the first time Australia has played a second string team against full strength opposition, and it's one of very few times they've actually been flogged. For instance, look at DLF Cup last year, where Australia rested a huge number of players and lost just the one match.

You simply can't blame the missing players for the loss.
