Altitude? The only ground well above sea level in NZ is Queenstown and I don't think Australia's ever played there. Clutching there.
Hell, I don't know. Lee and Tait talk about how it's easier to bowl quicker in South Africa and New Zealand.

Quite interested to read Parore calling for Fleming's head (interesting timing a month before WC). As an outsider I think he's crazy - a lot of people in the British press rate him as the best captain in the world considering NZ's resources - are there any Kiwis that agree with him or is Parore just a loose cannon? (I mean I remember when England were in NZ in 1997 he was playing for NZ but his state wanted nothing to do with him).

I hate it when a day game is played in new zealand because the game starts at 2:45 am(IST) so i miss a good chunk of the 1st innings of the game.

Parore likes attention. He was never a particularly popular player and any time he played in Canterbury was subjected to "Parore's a wanker!" chants. He was probably not the most popular player amongst his teammates either I'm guessing and may still have a chip on his shoulder about it. He's definitely in a very small, in fact tiny, minority re Fleming's captaincy for sure.

(btw, there are no such thing as states in NZ, Poker Boy, we have provinces)

I'll be disappointed if NZ lose any of these games given that Ponting, Gilchrist, Symonds, Lee and maybe Clarke are all out. I don't think the Aussies are taking this series too seriously tbh and hope it bites them on the ass. The idea of having this Chappell Hadlee series was to hopefully bring something like the Bledisloe Cup to cricket, a keenly contested TransTasman rivalry. At least one side are willing to come to the party.

He's bowled, what, half a dozen in his international career? Last one was nearly two years ago. I think maybe it happens a bit more against New Zealand because Lee tries a bit harder to bowl fast there, in the altitude etc. Never known any non-kiwi fans who had a problem with Lee over the beamers, anyway.

This one is better than either of the McCullum ones, incidentally.
Heard of Matt Pitt?

The weather has been awful in Wellington this morning. I reckon we'll be lucky to get much cricket, although the forecast does say its meant to get better as the day goes on.

The rain radar for Wellington on metservice.com looks pretty clear now so fingers crossed.

It's looking much better now, and I heard a guy from the met service a few moments ago saying that the game should be able to go ahead, although there might be a few short delays, as the evening goes on. Fortunately there's a stiff breeze, so nothing's going to hang around for too long.
