**Official** Chappell-Hadlee Series

Fiery, then you got to think Haddin has never had much chance at the international level, in the recent DLF cup haddin played some superb knocks under pressure. Haddin's one of the most prolific run scorers in aussie domestic cricket, its just because of gilly that he hasn't been able to break into the aussie side.

Parore went on to the extent to say that lee bowls these beamers intentionaly and might kill someone.

dont have good feelings about this game...and this series is crucial ... i cant stand it if South Africa become #1

i think our team will be

Hayden
Watson
Hodge
Hussey*
Haddin+
Jaques/Clarke
White
Hogg
Bracken
Johnson
McGrath

bowling attack is fine its the batting lineup that worries me.. which it did during the CH series.. and we had a full strength one too.. missing roy :(

the weird thing is there are guys in the WC squad that are in Australia still.. and guys that aren't in the WC squad in the CH series squad.... selectors are fuked

NZ should win tomorrow with, effectively, our World Cup side playing and a severely weakened Australian one.

Interesting to see how the Australian top order will form, will Watson open or maybe Mike Hussey? Phil Jaques if he plays? Who plays at 4?

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Why is Peter Fulton not playing?

Edit:

"Peter Fulton, who struggled towards the end of the contest, and Michael Mason have been left out of the Chappell-Hadlee squad and will play for their provinces during the series. The first game is at Wellington on Friday and the second and third matches are at Auckland and Hamilton."

He scored 60 in the second last match, ffs. Good reasoning.

If clarke doesn't play tomorrow Voges will play then, Watson is certain to open to get as much batting under his belt as possible. As for jacques if he has to play then he needs to open so that he can play with to his full potential.

He hasnt really showed too much form recently except for that 60. Maybe the selectors just want to give mcmillan a go before the world cup as again they think he has potential.

Since when is Watson certain to open?

Definitely won't be Hussey. It'll probably be Watson, however it may be Haddin if they think getting Watson used to the #7 position will be more beneficial to his World Cup performances than giving him a decent bat. If that happens, Haddin will open.

Unless Jaques plays of course, in which case he will open. However him playing is unlikely.

There'd be no better preperation for the WC than beating the favourites IMO - weakened touring side or not. Fulton should be playing.

Parore. Anyone else think Parore should shut up? His outbursts are just Ponting like (not so much Ponting anymore) and like some other commentators etc. It would be good to here some positives for once.

I agree. He can't be endearing himself to his former team-mates by saying they're all past their best and should be unselfish and retire.

He says stupid things quite a lot really, like the time he was criticising the quality of NZ domestic cricket and said he'd back himself to score a ton against most sides. Wonder why he only scored a handful in his career then.

I really wouldn't mind Haddin being tried at the opening role. We know that at WC Gilchrist and Hayden will be opening, so there is no point in trying out Watson at that position now. Aussies should get their OD roles set out from now for the WC

He's bowled, what, half a dozen in his international career? Last one was nearly two years ago. I think maybe it happens a bit more against New Zealand because Lee tries a bit harder to bowl fast there, in the altitude etc.
Altitude? The only ground well above sea level in NZ is Queenstown and I don't think Australia's ever played there. Clutching there.

Game 1 - D/N
Game 2 - Day (the neighbours only allow a certain number of night events at Eden Park, and since every rugby game is a night one there can only be 1 day/night cricket game every year...and this year we got bowled out for 73 before the lights came on)
Game 3 - D/N

I'd like to explain, but I can't.

The stadium has been there much longer than any member of the "Eden Park Residents Association", but still they have quite a lot of power.

I still think they should knock the place down. The middle of a suburban area is not the best place for a 45,000 seat stadium IMO (let alone 60,000 as it will apparently be by 2011 if the neighbours finally accept one of the plans). And that's before we take transport (or lack thereof) into account.

But anyway, this is hardly on-topic!
