**Official** Chappell-Hadlee Series

Is this a series too far for Oz? Seems weird that players who aren't in the WC squad will be playing, but then again I guess with Ponting, Gilly & Symonds all out for one reason or another there's little choice. Which takes me back to my point about it being a series too far.

Also, WRT the captaincy/vice-captaincy, why wasn't Hayden considered? He's never struck me as a particularly deep cricketing thinker, but neither do Punter or Clarke either. He'd have seniority over Clarke too.

If Watson is going to bat at 7 in the WC - which is more likely than not, what's so inherently wrong with him doing it in this series? You'd prefer Watson do really well now than prepare himself best for the WC? Meh.

If he does well up the order in this series though, he very may well get the chance to do in the WC.

Tuffeys Figures in his 10 games back from injury

1. 10 1 50 0
2. 9.5 1 47 1
3. 8 0 40 0
4. 6 0 36 1
5. 10 0 60 0
6. 10 2 36 0
7. 10 2 41 1
8. 10 1 37 1
9. 10 1 45 0
10. 8 1 25 2

You can see that maybe he was suffering from lack of form at the start of the domestic season but his performances at the end seem more consistent like the Tuffey we were used to seeing. I think the selectors have made the correct decision to include an experienced bowler like him in the squad.

Clarke by all means is the next aussie captain, if nothing dramatic happens in the next few years.

That shows his last 5 games have been pretty good, culminating in an impressive last performance. I'm glad to see him back. Just hope those yips don't resurface at any point.

Sounds like Lee will be out as well, making this contest even less interesting than it already is.

This is a traditionally boring series with no meaning to anyone but the Kiwis if they win imo. Guess you could say the same about most one day tournaments though, ffs I doubt I'll be tuning in except to maybe watch M. Johnson ripping through the black caps.

With the amount of players out i would give the kiwis favouritism, its looking like an A side, huss said he may move up the order good move.

Lee has also joined the injury list after rolling over on his ankle in a practice session. That was the last thing we wanted, i just hope he gets fit before the world cup. Anyways as its obvious that Lee is out of the C-H trophy, would they include tait into the side then.

Traditionally? It's only been going for a year hasn't it?

Edit: 2 years

Every game but one in Chappell-Hadlee history has been a really close last-over finish...and I went to the one. Lee tore us apart that day.

But yeah, I love this series. Really looking forward to this year's one...with all the injuries and rested players in the Australian side we'd better at least go close to winning the trophy this time, unlikely to get a better opportunity than this.

NZTailender, mate what are you talking about, the second series was a cracker barring the first game. In the 2nd game Kiwi's lost by 2 runs chasing 322, and then in the 3rd game they chased down 330 odd runs [then a world record chase].

Yeah, but in the first game we were rolled. The second game was exciting. The third game was entertaining but a dead rubber.

The first series, the first two matches were exciting for me. Third got washed out.

don't see why people would favour NZ... even with all the injured Aus players how many black caps would make it into the aus side?

Bond and Vettori are probably the only two...
