Six Nations

International Coach
Most interesting part of the second half was when Peel and Cusiter started flapping at each other.

Not a good advertisement for northern hemisphere rugby at the moment is this Six Nations.

Wow. Shocker.

Fair play to Italy, decent performance, but I suspect they've fallen into the "gallant defeat" mentality a bit. They played a damge limitation sort of game until it was too late.

Toby Flood not ready for internationals & Chuter seems to be increasingly from the "Thompson" school of line-out throwing.
1 thing today showed IMO was that Scotland were woeful last week.

I'm favouring the Irish mainly because I think O'Gara's kicking could be more reliable under pressure than the largely untested Skrela's.
I'm gonna buy that one. I might get the outcome wrong, but Skrela's kicking (or crappness thereof) has kept the Irish in it, pretty much.

Much better game of Rugby tho. Hope the Micks can take the first score in the second half.

What a sickener! I can only imagine how the Irish are feeling just now. :(

Great game of Rugby tho. Fair play to the French for nicking it at the death, but really they should've been out of it a while back. It was definitely a New Zelander's fault, but I dunno if I'd blame Boss or Walsh in all honesty. Walsh's advantages were way too short for mine but, as Austin Healy said, Boss coulda just dotted the pill down to make sure Ireland have a shot at goal.

Anyway, my tips:

England to beat Italy by 30-40 points; if yer eyeties play like they did against yer French it could get very ugly very quickly.

Wales to beat Scotland by 8-10 points; not too many positives for Scotland to take from last week and precious few for Wales either, but they have more class in the loosies & Mark Jones returns to add gas to the backs.

Ireland to beat France by 6-8 points; game of the weekend by a fair bit, Croke Park's first concession to an "Anglo" sport & the two favs for the title. It's pretty much toss of a coin stuff really, I'm favouring the Irish mainly because I think O'Gara's kicking could be more reliable under pressure than the largely untested Skrela's. Their loose forwards will have to do better than they did against the Taffs tho.
They won't win @ Twickers. French wins there are as rare as hens' teeth & usually down to monumental flukes. If Jonny and/or Farrell plays we'll win.

You're filling England supporters with great confidence.

Thanks. One does one's best. :p

Seriously tho, if Ireland hadn't gone to sleep I'd have been pretty close to spot on with my shout there at least.

& the French have won twice at Twickenham since 1987, both of which were massive flukes. I'll put my avatar on it for a month if you fancy taking the French.

Bugger...

Wilko (& Robinson) could be out for Sat. From the Beeb.

Our chances of our first win over the Irish as world champions just took a turn for the worse. More than missing his points the idea we'll have Toby Flood as our 10 scares the bejaysus (as they say round Croke Park) out of me. No way he's international class just yet &, frankly, I haven't seen much to suggest he ever has it in him.
