Forgotten Cricketers?

Obviously a very determined player and well-respected guy having read his profile in Cricinfo. That's a nice claim to fame Prince.
His brother Charles, also obviously my relation, played in the first ever test match and scored 165 retired hurt - the first test century in the history of the game.

Clearly they aren't forgotten players though, so perhaps a different thread would be more appropriate for this discussion. :p

This guy played for Pakistan for more then 12 years yet I have rarely seen his name crop up on the forum.

Basit Ali - Huge talent, never quite got going though.

Unless it's a discussion about average cricketers who players for 12+ years, I don't see why he'd merit much mention.

I often wonder what his rating would be if he'd never attempted a forlorn comeback and endeed his career with a ODI average of 18...

(Though that did owe quite a bit to Scotland and Bangladesh being classed ODI-teams)

Seriously, though, of all the New Zealanders to suffer injury-enforced career-ends, he has to be one of the most unlucky, along with his partner Nash, and his superior Doull, and his backer Cairns, and his successor O'Connor...

Which is still, despite the best efforts of Michael Slater, the highest percentage of a completed Test innings - the oldest Test record remaing.
