In his first match he bowled beautifully. 7 overs for 17 i think.Vital spell from Oram here. His bowling has been very sub-standard this series.
The Aussies will target him. He has to be at his best

That first match was the match England got bowled out for 120 in, I believe, so I wouldn't read anything into that bowling performance. The batting was just horrible. Decent start this over though. In his first match he bowled beautifully. 7 overs for 17 i think.

Yeah, true. That first match was the match England got bowled out for 120 in, I believe, so I wouldn't read anything into that bowling performance. The batting was just horrible. Decent start this over though.
The contrast I saw in them was that you seem to be happy that he's there now and FaaipDeOiad is not. See below:And Sean said something very similar. So how is my view in contrast to his?
He mentioned that people continued to call for his head immediately after his ton - which they did. But little has been said after that due to the fact that he has continued that form and looked more assured.
I'd still feel more comfortable in the WC with someone else partnering Gilchrist at the top of the order.
I may be reading between the lines thoughdone wonders for his confidence and his form and he's going on with it.
Yeah, it was pretty bad for me too, though perhaps not that bad.THE most depressing night of my life
I was talking about the night we lost the rugby WC semi puppy. I'm actually as happy as a dog with two willysFiery mate why are you depressed?
Yeah, but 6 - 7 rpo requried does not mean as much as it used to.Required RR Creeeping up so slowly
I actually thought it was one of the funniest nights of my life. Mind you, I hate rugby, and think the all blacks are a bunch of arrogant tossers.Errr no need to remind us of that.
One of the more depressing nights of my life - made more so by the fact that I was living in Australia at the time. I could not get out of the pub fast enough...
Yeah, he is finding the gaps at ease.Ponting looking great here, incidentally.
Well, I imagine the AB's are arrogant tossers and probably are - though a mate of mine said that McCaw and Carter were nice blokes having met them in ChCh. But yeah, I probably would not want to meet the All Blacks in person, as most likely they are up themselves, and though I really like my rugby (I love cricket first being a Sri Lankan by birth) I do think far too much is made of it in this country.I actually thought it was one of the funniest nights of my life. That was a bit of a ******** statement all around really.Well, I imagine the AB's are arrogant tossers and probably are - though a mate of mine said that McCaw and Carter were nice blokes having met them in ChCh. On a related note, I am more than a little pissed off by the ridiculous snoozefest that is Super 14 starting during summer and the cricket season. Bloody encroachment!
I had a sleepless night too and was cursing John Mitchell for months afterwards, in fact, still am. The '95 result was gut-wrenching too but that was just disppointment. In 2003 I was just angry with Mitchell mainly for the way he had treated some of our great players, particularly my all-time favourite player Christian Cullen and then didn't win the World CupYeah, it was pretty bad for me too, though perhaps not that bad.
Luckily I made an easy escape from the pub (the Toxteth in Glebe), by about the 65th minute I saw the writing on the wall and began edging towards the exit. Waited for full time and was out of there quick with the Aussie cheers ringing in my ears.
Went home, sat on my bed and held my head in my hands for a long time. Tried to get to bed but could not, so went outside with some tea and sat there for a couple of hours moping - Australians in cars flashing by occassionally with shouts of "Aussie, aussie, aussie, oi, oi, oi" kept me company until I finally went to bed at about 4am.
Which was? That was a bit of a ******** statement all around really.
